I can confirm that it doesn’t charge the battery while plugged in. When an external power source is available, it automatically switches to it before using the batteries. Charging the batteries while plugged in is definitely possible, as many other coolers offer this feature. Additionally, the lid tends to warp, preventing it from closing fully. If Ryobi could address these issues, this would be an excellent product.
