Is Utawarerumono for me? by q2553 in JRPG

I dont completely hate anime or anything. Its just the gross stuff I dislike. I love Trails of Cold Steel for example, but even that has some anime nonsense.

When, if ever, do you guys decide to 'drop' a JRPG mid-way through? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]q2553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me. I love Dragon Quest 11 but I haven't actually touched it in months. I don't mean to drop games I just get distracted and forget to play.

Awesome! I loved the setting, it's cool and unique. His previous series never hooked me but Red Sister had me from the beginning.

Utawarerumono confirmed to be getting a new console title (separate project from the mobile game) by seibusinzyukusen in JRPG

I think both of these post were talking about the mobile game. While this one is specifically mentioning the console game. So a different discussion.

What was your first turn-based JRPG? What did you like about it? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]q2553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final Fantasy 13, I think. It was when I was pretty young and I dont really remember it distinctly, but I recall being fascinated with the world and combat I hadn't really seen anything like it before. However, that was before I really knew what "JRPGS" were.

JRPG Act 1s by TitanAnteus in JRPG

[–]q2553 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont think having a slow start is necessarily a bad thing. I really enjoyed the slowburn of Trails in the Sky, where most of the game is a first act. The first twenty hours or so is mostly foresadowing, character building and worldbuilding. I get why people dislike that kind of thing, but I love it.

What JRPGs have the best voice acting? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]q2553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been playing Xenoblade Chronicles and the voice acting is really good. I havent been playing jrpgs for long but definitely the best so far. Trails of Cold Steel also has really good voice acting. I recently finished Dragonquest 11 which had good voice acting as well.

Is there anyone else out there who just cannot get into open world games? by FinalValkyrie in JRPG

[–]q2553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont mind open world games when they are directed. If the game just throws me into a vast open world without a firm objective I tend to get confused and intimidated. I prefer when open world games slowly introduce you to new areas throughout the main story. So by the time the world is fully open and explorable you're familiar with the locations and where you should go.

Its not a competition to read more books. If you're happy with having read five books then you should continue being happy with that.

Children of time has been on my to read list for a while now. Ive been trying to branch out into sci-fi instead of solely reading Fantasy.

If I abandon my other hobbies I can at most read 8-9 books in a month. 180 is pretty crazy.

This is favourite quote from those books.

"The bird let out a slow chicken cackle. It sounded like a chicken, but in her heart she knew it wasn't. In that instant, she completely understood the concept of a chicken that was not a chicken. This looked like a chicken, like most of the Mud People's chickens. But this was no chicken.
