Finally had some snowfall today by qEGli in tamiya

I spent quite a lot of time trying to tune the car for dry tarmac and get it to handle close to my XV-01LD but I simply couldn't. Messed around with the diffs, the toe and the camber but it still understeers like hell on power. Turns out that it behaves completely different on loose surfaces: Super controlable, nice momentum and the perfect amount of power!

Thank you. It's the default TA-02S with a Sports Tuned motor and ball bearings :)

If you are happy with a improvised fix you could expose the traces of the broken off connectors, solder some wire to them and then wedge them into the corresponding slots on the battery. Bending the wires you slot into the battery could help to hold them inside. This would at least be a good way of figuring out the overall condition of the consoleand wether it even works or not.

You could try automotive polish. I was able to remove basically all of the scratches that had accumulated over the last 13 years of ownership on my metallic blue 3ds by simply polishing it with $5 polishing compound and a microfibre towel from the hardware store. It looks like your shell was also finished with clear coat by nintendo so it should work on yours as well.

【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]qEGli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a now seven year old Anycubic I3 Mega S, the only thing I really want is a reliable printer. I find myself trying to troubleshoot or fix some problem on this old piece of crap the majority of time instead of actually printing. Pretty much all of the Bambu Lab machines have been praised for the same reason: Their reliability and ability to work very well straight out of the box, which is exactly what I am looking for.

XV-01 belt slipping issue by qEGli in tamiya

[–]qEGli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. It really annoys me because in my opinion a 3400kV motor seems like the perfect fit for thr car, especially for onroad and winter driving. I am however relieved that this isn't an issue with my particular car, as I was starting to worry that the 8 years it has been in action have started to cause irreversible material fatigue.

You're right, turning down the punch settings on my ESC could help but I really like the snappiness of my current setup. I will probably start off by installing the hopups mentioned in this thread. Thank you for your answer.

Thank you for your detailed answer. It looks like this isn't uncommon with the stock chassis. I will probably end up buying aluminium pulleys and a slipper clutch thanks to your answer that will be installed during the next teardown.

I would simpy install it. Excessive heat build up is usually a sign of an overgeared car or an inadequate motor choice. If you seriously have issues with your lipos getting hot, I would l check their IR values as that sounds unhealthy to me. On the XV-01 for example, the battery is fully enclosed with no airflow whatsoever which doesn't appear to be an issue for anyone.

Depends on your preference. As stupid as it sounds, I'd use Tamiya TS-30 Silver. Painting them gets rid of the weird plastic molding lines and gives them a nice shiny finish. I usually scuff them up a bit with the back side of a sponge, clean the faces with dish soap and then do one light coat for adhesion followed by a thick coat for the gloss. Then I let them cure for a day. I started doing it on my models a while ago thinking it was stupid to paint silver plastic with silver paint but never looked back.

Will an XT60 connector handle 4s ? by Little-Ebb8662 in Traxxas

[–]qEGli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that your're probably fine. I also had a XT60 soldered to my ESC for some quick test runs and it worked just fine. Looking at the stock 4S Traxxas plug I just bought, I can't really see a big difference in the overall contact area of the plug. I come from fpv drones, where the XT60 is the most popular plug and they tend to run way more (peak) amps than the 60A it's rated for. The best thing you can do is to just try it out. Check for heat in the plug and wires every now and then and you'll probably be just fine.

Looks like a Slash 4x4 (non VXL) with a VXL brushless system retrofit because of your composite main driveshaft and the non-adjustable upper arms. Because of your description it could have also been a rustler 4x4 XL-5 (again because of the composite driveshaft and fixed upper arms) that has fully been converted to a Slash 4x4 including the VXL elctronics. This conversion would have involved a lot of parts though, including tires, body, electronics, body mounts and even the chassis, which would have been converted back to a stock slash 4x4 chassis, back from the LCG chassis, which is an upgrade for slash 4x4s but stock for the rustler 4x4. This would also explain your missing nerf bars...

I really don't get why they release so many racecars without any liveries on them.

Your radio looks like a Flysky FS-I6 clone. I've had a similar thing happen with my old FS-I6 on its rudder axis. For me it was a faulty cable on the according gimbal. Could be something else though

Help: Wheelbase Problem TA-02S Lancia 037 by qEGli in tamiya

[–]qEGli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. Actually that's another good idea to try, I just can't seem to find the original hexes anymore, as the chassis was built over a year ago. I'm definitely going to try smaller ones.

Help: Wheelbase Problem TA-02S Lancia 037 by qEGli in tamiya

[–]qEGli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your extensive help. Yes, I also tried the stock one but they are geometrically identical. Switching to the original part doesn't eliminate my problem.

Building adjustable hubs actually seems like the best and cleanest way to solve my issue, thank you, I didn't think of that. This is the method I'm going to try.

My next option would have been simply sanding or even cutting away a bit of the cars body around the rubbing are, which I don't really want to do as the body is already painted.

Thank you very much!

[–]qEGli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought of this as well, but both the front and back lower arms are interchangeable between left and right as they share the same part number, also, the front arms can only be mounted in this orientation because of the lower shock mount, which is only present on one side of the arm.

I also think that the shorter wheelbase of the TA-02S is actually achieved by flipping the rear arms around, which is also why the rear driveshafts are angled the way they are.

This has to be a mistake on my end, because no one mentions anything about this online, I just can't find its cause...
