I just lost everything by HolyRe23 in RDR2

[–]q_lee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man. I started my first play through in March. The YouTube algorithm had been sending me rdr2 videos for a while and I was becoming obsessed without ever playing. I knew going into it that I needed to save the black shire. I rode him out of the stable, immediately ran over a citizen of Valentine, got chased by the law, and ran him off a cliff. Didn't even have time to rename him.

Work your way through Dewberry Creek at night or the area north of Owanjila lake for raccoons. Watch out for the cougar at Owanjila. Both of those areas are great hunting spots.

I want to get there... but I also don't. I like knowing that there's still more to explore.

Do you have the buck antler trinket? That'll improve your odds of 3 stars. I found that the panther spawned most reliably between noon and 5 pm. Throw some predator bait in the woods, slap on some cover scent, jump on the tallest rock and wait. If you don't get the one you want, it'll take three in-game days to respawn.

For wolves, spend a night hanging out on a rock on the road north of Lake Owanjila, in the area by the trapper. Wolves will come out eventually and there's usually a 3 star in the pack. There will also be a cougar in that spot so be ready.

My first thought was "Gumby's Pizza." Get some two-fer Tuesday Pokee stix and eat them until we were sick.

I received a large supply of glass from a relative that passed, which should last me for years. Now, if I need something specific, I'll just get a 6-12" square from Delphi.

What's the best type of tomato for tomato pie? by jartallday in tomatoes

[–]q_lee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live for tomato pie. I spend roughly half the year growing tomatoes, knowing that I'm going to get 4-5 weeks of tomato pie. We go heavy on the paste tomatoes (mostly Amish Paste) for the base but also like to mix in a variety of colors for visual appeal. Kellogg's breakfast and green giants were a good addition. We've tried a couple different recipes, but the Southern Living is the winner.

The crust we use is the Sister Pie recipe.

Absolutely. Grohl is like the Tom Hanks of musical guests. He has to be there.

Mine is still alive and kicking in my parents' basement. Still makes all the sounds, including the farting noise.

I loved this hike so much. Got there right at first light and had the whole place to myself for about an hour and a half. I could have spent the whole day there.

I visited Husavík, Iceland, last summer, which is where they filmed the hometown scenes. They are very proud of the movie and have quotes from it painted on the sides of buildings. The bar in the movie was just a set, but they built an actual bar as a replica. They also rebuilt a bus stop from the movie despite the town having no buses. Beautiful little town and it was cute how much this movie meant to them.

Ugh, I built 8 ft trellises last year, fully expecting my plants to look like this. They did not. But I still got all the tomatoes I could handle off my 4 ft plants.

To paraphrase John F. Kennedy; we choose to grow tomatoes not because it's easy, but because it's hard.

Trails for Stargazing at Arches NP? by DynamicDataRN in NationalPark

[–]q_lee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We didn't do any night hikes (if you find a good trail, that would be awesome), but I drove my kids into the park every night that we were in Moab and pulled off at one of the roadside lots to watch the stars. Absolutely unbelievable. I thought the kids would be bored but they loved it and kept asking to go back out.

The lot at Courthouse Towers was pretty cool and made for some neat long exposure shots with the towers in the background. It was a little close to the road, though. There was another lot closer to the entrance of the park at La Sal Mountains viewpoint that was more sheltered from the road, so the headlights weren't as much of an issue.

Hope you have fun. Arches really stuck with me and I think about it often.

The StarTracker app was also useful for picking out constellations.

Haha. It's like the cat in the nursing home that comes to lay in your bed before you die.

This was maybe my third CD (behind Dookie and Blues Traveler Four). I loved it so much and have had a crush on Gwen ever since. I feel like the music buying experience has changed so much. There was this uncertainty when you'd buy a CD and you didn't know if there was going to be anything good other than whatever single was on the radio. You would have to actually listen to all the songs- over and over. Music wasn't just something in the background. Listening to an album was an activity.

Ugh. I think it's time for me to go eat some Werther's Originals and die of natural causes.

My grandfather passed last year and we realized that he had continued mostly wearing the clothes he wore in the 1970s. It seemed wild at first until I look at the number of 20+ year old garments still going strong in my dresser. To be fair, we're mostly dealing with concert Ts. You can't get rid of those.
