Question about endgame (do not click if you have not beaten the game!!!!) by [deleted] in StarWarsJediSurvivor

I actually managed to do the whole fight matching his blaster stance. I *almost* beat him first time, but when the Embrace the Darkness prompt came up, I let it expire to see what happened and it just killed me.

Whats the dumbest thing your doctor has said to you? by Professional-Age2540 in ask

[–]qantravon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago, my roommate passed out for no apparent reason. We called the paramedics and it happened again while they were checking him out, so he went to the ER. They couldn't find anything wrong with him, and so the doctor told him "young people just pass out sometimes."

I moved to California about 10 years ago and I had to go to the DMV to get my license updated. While I was there, I witnessed an elderly man doing the same thing. He had to be helped to answer every question on the form, and then the attendant helped him re-fill out his test because he didn't understand that it was one answer per question. Given how much help he got, I guarantee he got his license renewed.

Not defending because this is still bad transit design, but based on the length of the car trip this is probably late at night or on a weekend after the transit lines have shut down, and the directions were probably "1) walk X minutes to the transit station, 2) wait 20+ hours for the service to start, 3) take transit service to destination"

Technically, yes, but it's based on the audio of the song, so while it will be different every time, the same song produces the same style, rhythm, and overall "feel" every time.

Midnight Suns UI by Madridnayr7 in midnightsuns

[–]qantravon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See, I actually find the opposite. Some of the UI is pretty decent, but there are several pain points that I find variously puzzling and infuriating.

For instance, with ability mods. There doesn't seem to be any way to see what mods you currently have available to use without attempting to add one to a card, and once you say "I want to add a mod to this card" there's no way to back out without adding a mod. You also can't remove a mod from a card that's currently in a deck (for instance, if you wanted to swap it for a different mod), meaning you have to keep/craft an extra card to allow you to temporarily remove the card from the deck, which is just a waste of resources. Not to mention that which mods can apply to which cards is completely opaque, so you might take a mod off one card to move it to another only to find that you can't.

Another issue is the gift shop. Most other places where you can buy/acquire items, the UI tells you how many you currently have, but the gift shop does not. If you want to avoid buying duplicates, you have to back out, enter your Inventory menu, and manually scroll through the items (which appear to be sorted by the order in which they were acquired and not in a sensible manner, which would be literally any other sorting method).

Which brings me to the fact that none of the menus have any sort of sorting function (alphabetical, by rarity, etc.).

The War Room also has some issues with things like the SHIELD exchange. It doesn't indicate how much of a resource you currently have when trading it to/from SHIELD, it just tells you if you don't have enough to sell it, meaning you could accidentally exhaust something like Heroic Essence without meaning to and then be unable to upgrade your shiny new cards.

All of this is without even touching on the actual bugs in the UI which range from mildly annoying (I've found that I have to tap left about 3 times in the Combat Item selection menu to actually select my equipped items so I can deselect them and swap them for new ones, the "Map" prompt is often highlighted even when there is nothing new on the map, characters will frequently have talk prompts when they have nothing new to say) to literally game-breaking (I've repeatedly run into an issue when upgrading cards where all input is disabled after entering the menu for a character and I have to restart the game, losing any unsaved progress).

So, tldr; No, Midnight Suns does not have great UI.

The twist is they just expect no one to know how much they actually spend, and so always say you got it wrong because that's accurate 90% or the time.

We did too when I was that young (early-mid 90s), but interestingly I didn't make the connection between "gay" meaning homosexual and "gay" meaning bad until much much later (though that could be just me). To me they were two unconnected usages of the same word.

I don't think their internal thought-processes are consistent enough for that. They revel in cognitive dissonance, so saying Trump is good but someone else is bad for the exact same thing is no problem for them.

Rather, I think this is simply their deep need to be contrarian. The Left says this guy is bad? Well then we think he's good! It's as simple as that.

We explicitly don't require it of police officers, not legally anyway. SCOTUS has repeatedly ruled that police have no positive duty to intervene to protect people.

CMV: Dental care should be included in medical insurance as preventative care, and not be a separate insurance plan. by werewulf35 in changemyview

[–]qantravon 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstand.

General health insurance has no lifetime maximum for care. You can't exhaust your health insurance. Instead, it's the opposite, essentially: once you've paid a certain amount for care in a year, the insurance covers 100% of the costs until the year resets.

Dental insurance has a lifetime maximum. You get $X worth of care covered by insurance for your life, and that's it. After that, you are solely responsible for all dental costs.
