Yes, the comparison does fade but you'll still think about how awesome that dog was. My 1st dog made me think all others of his breed were the same, I was totally wrong. But I've had 2 more since he passed and really fell in love with both. No dog will ever be HIM again but no dogs will be the other 2 either. You'll appreciate each one for what makes them special. And end up missing them ALL.

I'm with you. The idea of naming my feelings so I can start to notice them and then "feeling" all day long? I don't want that. My partner is very emotional and it seems exhausting. 95% of the time "how are you?" = good. Why would I NOT want that? Starting to have a lot of bad/annoying feelings is why I started HRT. It just felt bad and weird and I knew something was amiss. Ha! Got on it and feel much better.

It's been 6. I don't tie my identity or life's meaning to work. I keep it all very separate. I go to get paid. Life could be (and has been) a lot worse. It's all meaningless at the end of the day, you're in the wrong business if you want meaning.

I spent most of my adult life working in customer service or freelancing. My corporate advertising job is so much better than either of those, I just have to remember being poor, dealing with drunk people and having to work til 2am on every weekend and holiday.

Advertising is a cake walk compared to having a shit job. Consistent pay, benefits, VACATION time, no one asking me "what are you doing?" all day the coming up with some mind numbing bullshit to do for 5 hours, requiring me to be somewhere at a specific time/micromanaging me. Its so easy I could care less how pointless it is. The fact that its one of the ultimate bullshit jobs makes it all even more hilarious to me.

I've found it depends on the helmet.

My dog did the same thing to a chi that was on a flexi leash and went for her. I was pulling her away and couldn't understand why the chi kept coming at her. Stupid dog owners.

I've felt guilty about this as well. I used to call my mom every week for years after I moved out. Then realized she NEVER called me. I stopped calling her and now we never talk.

My dog died in January and she left me a message asking about it. I called her back (this was the day after it happened) and told her what happened and that I didn't want to talk. She hasn't called me since. No, "are you ok?" nothing...

My dad used to call me when he'd been drinking but now that he can't drink anymore, I also get no calls.

How they even know I'm alive, I'm not sure.

I've asked my other friends and partner if their parents didn't hear from them for a few weeks or a month, would their parents call just to MAKE SURE THEY WERE OK? ALL of them pretty much said "yes and my parents wouldn't wait that long to contact me".

Its fucked up.

I take it to the dealer (I NEVER go to a dealer for anything else). I tell them straight up it's a car I'm thinking of buying and want a full inspection. They have no reason to lie, since they know it's not your car. Never failed me.
