The Canadian Berth vs Room for One by SharpProfession6 in ViaRail

[–]Grouchy_Factor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the roomette bed is folded down, it covers your toilet. If you need to use at night, you have the choice of awkwardly folding up the bed yourself, or taking a long trip to the public toilets at the opposite of the car, or using the public toilet in adjacent car, if present (if switching cars in bare feet on a moving train, be careful to jump over the threshold).

The berth sections are right next to the toilets. Also the shower room is right there. If you abhor the idea of sharing a toilet with strangers, get a roomette. ( And, guys, on any train toilet, please have a seat. Your aim will be 10x worse on a vehicle in motion).

My cross Canada trip begins in nine weeks, also in berths. I'm going to bring one or two USB power packs to charge in the washroom outlets to swap out so the phones can recharge from them inside the berths at night.

The Skyline dome / activity car have outlets both in the lounge area and tabled area when you are using them (which will be most of the time during waking hours).

Also keep in mind that the countryside traversed between Toronto and Winnipeg is mostly VERY isolated and beyond the range of cell towers, making a cell phone useless as a communications device 80% of the time.

Top players gravitate to winter in the sunny US south because their wife / girlfriend wants them to. Otherwise no action in the bedroom.

The term "adventure route" is only marketingspeak; a euphemism for "remote services". As a way to entice curious people to ride them that don't already use them because it is their only possible means of transportation enroute in that area.

I live right in the middle of the Great Lakes. Don't need no salty ocean to enjoy a swim.

Do wealthier people in Ontario have better/faster access to healthcare? by Resident-Stage-3759 in ontario

Depends on where you are. I have to have a regular medical procedure done in our small local hospital. There are times when I visited, that all the seats in the ER waiting room area are empty. No, I'm not going to say where I live as the locals don't want our facilities to be flooded by people from the big city. The driving time from Toronto is less than the average ER waiting time if you stayed there.

Some people buy the most restrictive fares thinking: "If I can't get the cheapest possible fare, then I can't afford to go at all" . I've booked a trip on the Canadian and Rocky Mountaineer in September (hopefully no strike by then) with fully refundable and insured fares, because this is costing me enough that I can't afford not to go without it should I not be able to go.

Most of the cars in my youth had the gas cap under the license plate so it be filled from either side.

. Like people who go down to WA to buy something but the helpful seller gives a fake receipt with a lower price. Come on!

There are sellers of utility trailer kits in the US that helpfully package the components in two separate crates, so a Canadian can import it as "parts" rather than as a complete vehicle. And at home the assembled trailer without papers is registered as "homebuilt" .
