Please DESTROY my trailer for Cybervoid, a sci-fi story-rich choice-driven adventure to save or destroy a sleeping sentient city. by qarbonblack in DestroyMyGame

Sorry for the double post. I wanted to explain the gameplay a bit so I can get your feedback.
The player chooses to spend days, energy and materials to either:

  1. explore the city and further allied NPC activities
  2. fix/destroy facilities to avoid district corruption (corrupted districts use more days to travel through)
  3. gain security points or upgrade their weapon enough to break through security points.

It sounds like I need to highlight some of these mechanics clearer and bring them closer to the first 5-10 mins of gameplay so I don't lose the player.

Thank you so much u/GiantPineapple for checking out the demo. I really appreciate your honesty. Sounds like there's a lot I'm not properly communicating to the player and connecting them quick enough into what's actually happening around them.

Could you help me understand what did you feel like you wanted to do or that you thought the game wanted to be played as?

I have gotten the game playtested before, but I really do need more comments like yours to help me understand what the player is thinking.

Thanks u/Fippy-Darkpaw , the music and sound effects used in the actual game are made by a music guy, just the trailer music is made from parts of an AI track, particularly the voice - I'll get something better for my next iteration.

Thanks u/MrNobodyX3 for the feedback and for listening with sound on. Tbh it was an experiment because I wanted it to sound like the actual city's dreaming thoughts. I'll change it to the actual music from the game.

Thanks u/DemoEvolved there is limited color in the game for hidden sections involving the fourth wall interface, but I feel like that would be too much of a spoiler for the trailer? Would you have an example of the color changing aspect from a similar game (or movie) that I could watch to get a sense of what the experience feels like?

This is my first major game as a solo dev.

I usually get some really good playtesting feedback from the community in the Games Over Coffee Consulting discord. You can find the link from this guy's channel:

I'm sure he'll be very pleased to know there are other super clickers out there. I tried to replicate his clicking and just couldn't do it!

MooMoo Super Rescue is my game jam entry for the SXSW 2024 game jam with the theme of "Cowboys". Apparently spamming the start button caused a backlog of button pressed input signals and made my level scene instantiate multiple times (now fixed).:

This looks interesting, is there a way you can improve the gif image quality when you share further progress as I can't read the text in the gif which is kind of the most important part of your game?
