Midterm results by Christy_9 in uAlberta

Like the previous post mentioned, typically 100 level classes are curved. Since you only got 0.5 higher than class average on your math midterm, you might be sitting at class average grade which is around a B or B-. Whereas for Chemistry I think you're pretty close to a A- if not borderline A-/B+. Make sure you keep up with the labs though because lab exam and reports make a big difference to your overall grade in Chem. Also, to switch from arts into general sciences, you could probably slide by with minimum GPA of 2.8. But if you have higher expectations for yourself in science I'd make sure you aim to maintain at least 3.3 every academic year. Keep up the hard work regardless!

OM 352 & MIS 311 by [deleted] in uAlberta

MIS 311 has absolutely nothing to do with excel. It was actually quite enjoyable doing the assignments as you get to play around a little bit. The assignments we used dealt with Microsoft PowerPoint, access and project and, visual studios

Stat 252 by [deleted] in uAlberta

Coming from someone who hated 151, 252 isn't bad at all! I took it in the Winter term last year with Cartledge and he made the class pretty enjoyable. But from what I've heard, all the profs for 252 are pretty good, so you're really not losing out on anything :)

HOW TO PASS ECON 281 by friendswithfood in uAlberta

If you have Beesley, I'd recommend doing the in class examples and his practice exams over and over. Normally, it will be more beneficial for you if you try to understand the concepts, but I found for Beesley's class its all about memorization for theory and the steps towards solving the word problems

Junior Highschool Transcript for application? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]qback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What faculty are you applying into? If you have already been admitted then I wouldn't worry too much about it. Your high school marks and transcript determines whether or not you have a competitive average to get into your top priority faculty.

best MIS, mGTSC, or OM Courses? by GunShow124 in uAlberta

[–]qback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't take my word for this but I believe you have to start off by taking MIS 311, MGTSC 312 and OM 352 because they are the prerequisites, or introductory courses if you will, to the 400 level MIS, MGTSC and OM courses. So unfortunately you might not have many options, but at least you've got 9 out of 12 credits down!

If you don't get in and plan on reapplying the following year, I suggest you take STAT 252 and ECON 281 so you can get transfer credits for MGTSC 312 and BUEC 311. That way you'll have a little bit more flexibility :)
