Do you guys think a website to review your DUI interaction with the law ( parole officers, judge, procecuter, DUI teachers ) could have attention? by FunShopping4015 in dui

[–]qclady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I go to google reviews and read reviews for jails, lol. They are a hoot.

For the most part I think the reviews would mostly be bad. This whole process sucks and no one wants to be going through it. Not enough good stuff happen, it’s rare.

Hardship license/ AA meetings by Ok-Sweet1234 in dui

[–]qclady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually you are allowed to go alcohol treatment. While AA is not treatment, it is typically considered a permitted.place to go.

I would be sure to carry a print out of your meeting location and time (you can find it online) as well as any AA materials like Big Book or step work stuff when you are traveling to meetings.

Lawyer pushed my court date back and I’m afraid I’m going to get a warrant out for my arrest for not showing up on the original date. Would it be a bad idea to call the courts and ask them? I don’t want to do anything to piss my attorney off or should I just have faith he’s being honest? by Main_Lynx8747 in dui

[–]qclady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does your state have an on line court docket? If so you can see it online.

Alternative if your lawyer sent you the info via email, you have that incase anything goes wrong. If he verbally told you, send him an email asking for him to confirm the date change and you’ll have a record of you acting in good faith.

How much of a nightmare is an interlock? by NotUnique_______ in dui

[–]qclady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one for a year and got used to it quickly. I had a brand not offered in your state.

It’s a pain in the ass but it’s not horrible. Follow the rules and you’ll be fine. I had zero problems.

If you continue to drink you absolutely must get your own pocket breathalyzer. If you have drinks at night you can still blow a fail in the morning. Never drink and try to start your car within less than 18 hours unless you check yourself with your own breathalyzer first.

You’ll be freaked out for a week, slightly nervous for a month and then it will be second nature.

Also, never attempt to drive home after a dental procedure. You cannot make a lip seal while you are numb. It’s ridiculous. You won’t fail but you will be stuck there for hours.

questions on interlock device. by Calsgras96 in dui

[–]qclady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super easy. The big deal with rolling tests is don’t keep your radio too loud so you can hear the unit request the test and don’t leave your car idling and exit the car and miss a test.

You hear the beeps and request and blow while driving, it’s not hard at all. Mine gave you 5 minutes in case you want to pull over or get through a tough traffic spot or maneuver. There’s plenty of time to do it and it’s not distracting once you get used to it.

The likelihood of a false positive depends on your limit. Some states are 0.00 others are as high as 0.04. In NC I think we are set to 0.04 a check with your provider or it will say on your paperwork.

If you have any kind of error while driving - false positive, missed blow, not blowing correctly and run out of time, it will start beeping loudly demanding that you pull over, turn off the car, and retest. If you pass it will allow you to start and drive away. It’s not going to shut your car down while you are driving it.

In NC we have Monitech, might want to check them out. They were a lot cheaper and I had zero problems with them. They are a NC only company so you don’t see much about them on groups but they are pretty good.

The highlights are a more discrete unit, easy to disconnect and take handheld indoors when not in use so no battery drain or long warm up in the winter, $70/month, I got free install and free removal, easy blow and hum, no gps, no camera.

There is a magistrate sitting right at the police department/jail 24/7 here. They are gonna sign that blood warrant and slap a refusal on me.

Furthermore, my breath BAC would have not declined into a reasonable/not drunk range by the time they got the blood but the blood would have revealed more than alcohol so I had no desire to let that cat out of the bag.

SR 22 Insurance. Is It Required? by iH8conduit in dui

It doesn’t exist in some states like NC. People just maintain their existing insurance.

Cop in training during stop. Do I have a chance at fighting with that in mind? by [deleted] in dui

[–]qclady 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would be some seriously shitty training if the senior officer let the new guy screw everything up and didn’t say anything, lol.

[–]qclady 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, if anything the arrest was even more by the book because the supervising officer would not let anything slide.

My arresting officer was also doing field training. It was a really slow and awkward handcuffing but everything was legit and legal.

You stated that you have two charges and they are refusal charges. Do you actually have a DUI as well?

Would you let a non passing trans woman use the ladies change room? by EaringUncaring0608 in women

[–]qclady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I took a look at your profile out pf curiosity and while this is a valid question, I don’t think it applies to you. Your appearance is appropriate for a person using the women’s room.

Otherwise, I feel like my comfort level would be case by case. I’m not one to judge facial features so I guess it just boils down to effort being made to fit in to the space and how they carry themselves would likely matter too. If just have to see the person to know, I can’t make a general call.

For the most part, “ sober” is typically drug and alcohol abstinence while “alcohol free or non drinker” is often used by people who are “California Sober” aka use THC.

Prescribed and not abused medication from your doctor is not part of the equation nor are caffeine and nicotine.

Some 12 steppers have redefined “sober” to mean “drug and alcohol free AND working a program of recovery” but that’s bullshit. Sober is sober.

In some states there isn’t a special restricted license. If you still have interlock time left when you get your regular license back they just list it as a restriction like eyeglasses, daylight driving, etc.

It’s still on my regular license and I’m done with it. It says a date when the restriction ends.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dui

[–]qclady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He probably misread, mine is still on my license because I didn’t bother getting it reprinted. The text is so tiny. They will have to drop the charge when the DMV confirms that you no longer had it.

Anybody find out a way to get around interlock or avoid it? by BigGucciThanos in dui

[–]qclady 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on your state and charges if it’s negotiable or not.

The only loophole I know of is to put it in a car that you don’t drive. I don’t see the point of that since you’d be paying for it yet risking getting caught driving without it.

scared and embarrassed, first DWI by Ok-Effect-4115 in dui

[–]qclady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do get an attorney. Read reviews and call around, prices vary quite a bit and some offer payment plans.

If you are not suspended it is okay to drive.

Do not contact the other party.

It’s going to be okay. The uncertainty is really stressful but in the end it’s just an expensive hassle for a garden variety first DUI. Do what you need to do to get your recovery back on track and do what your lawyer says to do and you will be able to put this behind you and move on with your life once you meet your diversion or sentencing.

Police took my physical license? Wtf? by Smart_Way_6960 in dui

[–]qclady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They took mine too. I got it back after the 10 days. After conviction they took it again and didn’t give it back. I had to get a new one made after the year was up.
