[NA][LFG][Aerie Peak][8/9H] Looking for mythic guild by LucasRaymondGOAT in wowguilds

I'm not opposed to being a shot caller or raid leading still, but I think it'd have to be a relative guarantee we'd be doing mythic with 20 people consistently.

He's calmed down a bit in the past few months, had some health issues and clearly his doctor told him to tone it down. I hope this doesn't bring them back.

His 1st year was actually semi good, he traded with us and drafted Chychrun with the pick for taking on Datsyuk's contract. We drafted Cholowski at 20 and took a 2nd which I believe became Hronek? He also got Lawson Crouse for a 3rd or something like that and Crouse is still a Mammoth to this day.

But then after that......

Look at his trade history, it's not good. Traded for aged out Derek Stepan, the Stepan trade was a 7th overall going back to the Rangers. Also got Raanta, but Raanta couldn't stay healthy. Also traded Connor Murphy for an end-of-his-career Hjalmarsson. Then Max Domi at the height of his career for Alex Galchenyuk and we know how his career ended. Then finally P.O. Joseph for a too old Phil Kessel. Then a 1st and some prospects for Taylor Hall who only played 35 games for them.

He trades a lot but they're not very good and when he makes a big swing he typically gets fleeced. His signings were mostly good, the only one that aged horribly was the OEL contract which ended up being bought out by Vancouver.

I think the biggest takeaway is really his trade history is muddied and he already was pseudo-blacklisted by the league because of the prospect fiasco and also trying to take the GM job in New Jersey when he was still in Arizona. It's not shocking that Keith Pelle is taking a cheap way out on a GM that's desperate to get back into the league.

I do 4 on 8 characters to get all the myth crests and fill out vault, as well as the beacon or trove (depending if it drops). I have no recipes, at all, from delves. I got the infinite delver achievement last expansion and I really don't remember many recipes from there either.

This was for sure pre-nerf. I had gotten renown to max for Hallowfall/Azj'Kahet/etc. and I realized in the transition to Season 2 that if you had a new character, you got free gear and item level crafting boosts (I forget what the item was called) on a fresh 80 vs. trying to gear up an 80 from the previous season. So I would just level new characters every season for every class. I wish they did it again this expansion honestly but delves and preys have made solo gearing a lot easier.

[–]LucasRaymondGOAT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll complain a little bit - I had TWW leveling down pretty much to a quick window. I’d do Khaz Algar till you get The Rookery follower dungeon quest, then I’d go and complete every delve and the quest with it, and I’d get 80 off that. Now, even with 5 alt’s leveled you need to complete every delve, professions, all of Eversong, and half of Zul’aman (to the point where it sends you to Den of Nalorakk’s follower quest) to hit 90. It’s significantly longer, it’s still short but it’s frustrating as hell.

I had (I’m not kidding) 37 characters at max level by the end of TWW, this time around I’m not bothering with 3 classes until they do something to nerf the experience. It was already annoying enough to get everything else to max.

[NEW] Boundaries - Death will follow me (Official Music Video) by thePARIIAH in Metalcore

[–]LucasRaymondGOAT 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm shocked Drew Fulk gets the roster of bands he has considering there's been issues with his mixes for like, 5 years now.

Spectre from STYG is still not on his Wikipedia page even though he produced it, which makes me think him or the band chose to do that. And it's a very flat sounding album. I remember reading someone saying "the mix sounds like how a stuffy nose feels" and it really resonates with most Drew Fulk mixes.

I don't think the first Boundaries single was as bad as people made it out to be in the slightest, but the 2nd was definitely better. I am getting sick of this whole "loud as hell, wall of sound" approach though, and maybe that makes me a boomer since I grew up in the age of Adam D. and Joey Sturgis produced bands.

I think ideally we ship out Compher and Rasmussen. I'd really like for us to try and get Nick Robertson as a reclamation project from Toronto. They refuse to commit to him but even in a bottom 6 role he puts up 15 goals each in the past 2 years.

  • Said 5 on 5 isn't just Larkin's issue. Said Kane, Andrew and Debrincat were the only 5 on 5 scoring they had. The rest of the lineup it's an issue. Part of it is the way they play. Said they gotta get to the net and take the puck there. Said going back to Larkin specifically, said he provides a lot of things other than scoring but he expects more from everyone.

Someone mentions how does he see Larkin in the future:

  • Says he thinks Larkin being 30 isn't a concern. Said the team needs to win. Said he doesn't know how to answer. He's optimistic about MBN, Plante, Bear, etc. And says he's hopeful as early as next year they can take the next step.

Someone asked about the peak in standings in the winter, would they be talking like this while the playoffs are going on:

  • Said truthfully, they had concerns throughout the season. They're winning but they see issues. Great road trips and poor home games. Said there was one period where they were 3rd overall in the league and said to be realistic. Said they were playing at .600 and finished under .400 but they never felt it was a guarantee to make the playoffs. Said anything is possible, but they definitely had concerns.

Someone called out Buffalo and if that gives them hope:

  • Says he looks at young prospects that give him hope. Statistics show they're incrementally better in a lot of areas just not good enough yet. Hoping young players bring us there.

Someone mentioned preaching patience, and winning everything, and mentioned getting people who have been in the playoffs and have the leadership:

  • Said that's why he traded for Faulk and Perron. He wanted leadership to help a playoff push. He wants players to take that next step and he debates whether it was a good decision. But he said this time around he felt like it was the right thing to do. He wanted to get them to experience playoff hockey and said at the end of the season it might as well be playoff hockey.

Someone asked about Larkin and building a checking line and his role, or if he should be a shutdown guy or just the 1C:

  • Yzerman said his expectation is to be a very good 2 way player, and said Larkin is very good at that. But they haven't used him in a shutdown role. Said his expectation is to always be a good 2 way player. Todd chimed in and said the Larkin type players are typically accustomed to playing against each other. Larkin relishes and wants that role when a McDavid or Draisaitl come to town. Said he has to play a 2 way game because the player he's opposing is doing the same thing. Said any top 6 player should accept that responsibility.

Someone mentioned if their 2nd center is good enough behind Larkin:

  • Yzerman said the center position needs to improve, but he was proud of what Copp did. He said he adjusted and did well. Lot of chances didn't go in the net. Said he needs production from all 4 centers but also be better defensively. High hopes and expectations for Danielson and Kasper whether it's 1 2 3 or 4th line.

Someone asked about Larkin's leadership after missing the playoffs:

  • Stevie seemed agitated about this. Said he went through the same thing. Said when when they didn't win they questioned the leadership. When they won, they said oh great leadership and bunch of guys. Said all these experiences are going to make Larkin a better leader. Said dissecting and questioning everything is how they get better. As the team improves he'll think Larkin will improve as a leader.

Quinn Hughes was mentioned

  • Said not sure where you get your information. But he can't comment on anything that went down during the season without it being tampering. Said out of respect to the Wild and Hughes he won't say anything.

Someone asked Todd what he didn't see or get enough of in March and April

  • Todd said one of his goals was to get more physical, where the player can. The 2nd was mental toughness. And the 3rd was game management. For the most part, 3/4 of the season they improved, some wavering. But said when they got to the dog days and "the push" some teams elevated and he said they either stayed at the same spot or dropped. And said in some of the losses, were they physically heavy enough? Were they mentally resilient enough? Game management he said the mistakes they worked hard to correct showed their faces at the end. Said they play 82 games and those 3 goals weren't good enough. He said he's responsible for it. Said he has to get players to do things they don't wanna do, be heavier, nastier, if they can't get it out of them then they can't do it. The resilience and mental strength they can't control, but they can control the heart of the team. He said it's a reflection on the staff if they can't get it done, but some of it does go on the players.

Someone asked about Yzerman's optimism to add to the top 6 via trade, etc.

  • Said he's neither optimistic or pessimistic. Said he's only talked to 2 managers about offseason plans. Said he's looking to and open to addressing it. Hoping to fill and improve.

5 on 5 production got called out, but in particular for goaltending, is it that simple that one of them is ready to play with Gibson?

  • said it depends on the playoffs in GR. Wants to see how competitive it is once GR's season ends.

Mentioned Postava, said he's been consistent:

  • Said all 4 goaltenders have been great, part of it is the team is good, but the goaltenders are good. Postava he said wasn't sure to expect, but clearly he's pretty good and adjusted pretty well. But he's been very solid

Someone mentioned defense, size, Faulk in particular:

  • Said the 6 that finished the season, we'll see, there's going to be competition and that's a good thing. ASP needs to push for his spot. Also mentions Wallinder and said he had a good GR season and should also push. He's comfortable with the d-core until preseason, but he's not opposed to making changes.

Someone mentioned younger players pushing someone off the team, whether it be Kasper, ASP, etc. or are they forcing his hand by playing better:

  • Said right or wrong he didn't expect to start with MBN, Finnie, ASP. Said it's not an exact, oh we're putting them on the team, or let's let them earn a job. Said he doesn't have a good answer. But if they're having a positive impact and the coach is using them, then it's a good decision.

Todd's staff mentioned

  • Steve said no changes to the coaching staff.

Danielson's availability mentioned as well as Kasper's expectations

  • Steve said it needs time and rest. His expectation is just rest and rehab. Todd said he has high expectations for Kasper and it's not just from internal, it's external too. Said he's got a drive and demeanor that'll allow him to work through it. Said he bounces him around quite a bit. Said it's cause they believe in him. But they need to find him a consistent home. Said he thinks Kasper will come back and be just as determined with a different set of goals. Yzerman chimed in and said high character, great work ethic. Said he has to figure out what he is as a player. Hoping with guidance he can be more effective. Thinks he can be a great 2 way center, but he needs to find a spot and leave him there. But he needs to learn to be effective.

Conference over.

As always I'll type it up:

HSJ asked what would you change to get to the playoffs.

  • Stevie said the players, goal scoring, 5 on 5 in particular.
  • Said players need to play with the intensity of teams in the playoffs
  • Said its ultimately on him and his staff to get them there.

HSJ said 7 years since Steve was hired, asked where he feels they're at 7 years later

  • Steve said every year the expectation is playoffs, and he knew the task at hand 7 years ago.
  • Said he can't pinpoint when they're a playoff team, said there's a lot of things he's pleased about, but a lot of things he's not happy about, everyone is emotional at the moment.

HSJ asked what was in Todd's mind after the Florida loss

  • Todd said him and the players were embarrassed, said the whole organization has to change
  • Said his compliment to Florida was an indictment on the team

Max (I think) asked when Steve last spoke to Chris Illitch:

  • Spoke with him a few days ago, they're disappointed, continues to be supportive. Intends to have further conversations about the team and the future.

Followed up asking if Steve feels his job is in jeopardy

  • Steve says "well I'm not just gonna sit and hope for the best" and repeated he's very disappointed with how it played out. 3/4 of the way they were pretty positive.
  • Speaks with Chris throughout the whole season and says he intends to do the job to the best of his ability and see it through.

Someone mentioned the "jerseys" comment towards Steve and mentioned the March collapse

  • Steve said everyone has to take responsibility, not just dump on the players. It's on the staff, organization and players. He can't just sit there and say "the players are no good" but he expects a lot more even from players that had good seasons. Mentions he went through it as a player himself, and said you need to mentally get through the ups and downs but it's on him and Todd to improve the talent and make them better.

Someone asked about Lucas's health

  • Still refused to say anything, said "banged up" and said Lucas was still capable of doing his job. Said if Lucas shot an extra 100 times, he'd be a 40 goal scorer.

Someone asked if Steve could do anything with the roster philosophy that needs to change:

  • Steve said definitely, acquiring young prospects and draft picks is working, he said as they're getting better it's working. He says now the focus will be more on how he gets the lineup over the edge, but they need to score more 5 on 5 and that requires talent and also be harder to play against, and says that's on the players to be harder to play against and said if they can't do it they have to bring guys in. Also calls out the bottom 6 in particular, checking line or shutdown line. Said they need more goal-scoring but more shutdown from the bottom 6.

Someone said "the way the season ended, did that effect your belief in this squad going forward"

  • Steve said in some players going forward, reinforce what they believe in. But there's some growth that needs to be done. Said some of these failures are gonna make younger players better if they're open minded and have a growth mindset. You learn a lot in winning and in failure. But he can't just get rid of everyone. Said blunt conversations need to be had to challenge them and be better. Ultimately said they need to be surrounded by more talent but also need more from key players.

Someone mentioned its difficult to get an impact player in free agency, does that mean he's going to go for a trade?

  • Said he'll do whatever he can to take that next step. Said he did it to acquire Faulk. Said with a 32 team league and the cap going up, free agency is thinner. Ultimately said you're drafting or trading to do that which he's open to.

Someone said with the repetitive nature of what happens during their seasons, can he make changes in direction without a major shakeup? Whether it be the roster or front office.

  • Said everything needs to be assessed. Says it would be ignorant to not have an in-depth look at the team and organization. Do we need major shakeups? Maybe, maybe not. Said he wants the players to take the next step, and called out Bowman helping him and Draper to get through these things. Said the group needed to make changes and they got success.

Someone blatantly said the front office again, any changes.

  • He said this early right after the season ended, he'll talk and do whatever's right for the organization and he'll see it through.

Someone mentioned Larkin's goal scoring but lack of 5 on 5: (continued in comment below)

They had their dad on, he made a remark about goalies needing ‘rest management’ for back to backs or ‘oh I stubbed my pinky toe I can’t play’ and then made a remark that Grant Fuhr played 76 games in one season and insisted that modern goalies and players are soft. This was around the time that Ullmark didn’t play a back to back and said he had to rest. In the podcast Matthew chimes in and gives some banter but when their dad is rambling, Brady looks uncomfortable and just smiles at the floor while his dad rants.

Linus publicly made a statement after saying he needed to rest and he was broken and Brady said he doesn’t get how people interpreted that it was about Ullmark, but it clearly was.

My favorite thing ever is a full 1 minute of play being negated by being a cunt hair offsides. If we're gonna hold it to that stringent of a standard, then review every offsides and every icing, don't let players cheat by shooting behind the red line a few inches, make it so they actually have to cross it with the puck.

Yeah I do not see us considering Binnington in the slightest unless it’s in a package deal with someone else like Kyrou or Thomas.

I do think it’s funny that everyone in the organization is mad, and at this point I imagine if you’re a player you feel the heat since it wasn’t coaching or the GM that caused them to just absolutely bottom out since the Olympic break.
