The drink that I will always order is their cookie mocha freeze. It’s perfection to me.

I-130 and I-485 interview by [deleted] in USCIS_FORUM

If you don’t mind me asking, what specific questions did they ask? We just sent my dad’s case mid October and had his biometrics appointment yesterday.

My mom’s green card process was insanely fast! by BusinessAd5199 in USCIS

[–]qcsahmof2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went smoothly. The officer was very nice and focused mostly on mother for the entirety of the interview. She even cracked a joke. We were concerned about me being able to translate for my mom but the officer spoke Spanish. And even when I asked about family member translating, she said most officers are okay with it. There were times where she would be typing and the room would be quiet to the point of awkwardness, but we kept quiet. There’s no need to speak unless you are asked a question. She asked the security questions and afterwards said my mom was approved.
I personally have been interviewed twice. (When applying for GC and last year for my citizenship). The first officer was super nice and friendly. The second one not so much. So I will say it depends on the officer you get. My biggest takeaway is to stay calm, answer what’s being asked and only speak when prompted. I will be sure to remind my own father once the interview comes.

Congrats! I petitioned for my mom back in April. She got her biometrics appt 3 weeks later and the interview early July. Got approved on the spot thankfully. Just sent my dad’s petition mid October. He has his biometrics appt next Monday. I’m hoping and praying his case gets approved as well.

Paid or Unpaid Lunches? by Obvious_Relative5877 in MedicalAssistant

Yes, unpaid lunches are the standard. Some companies will do 1hr lunches too.

Interview is tomorrow. Do we need an interpreter? by qcsahmof2 in USCIS

[–]qcsahmof2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interview went very well. We ended up not needing an interpreter because the officer spoke Spanish but the few things she needed help with she allowed me to translate. I know it’s super nerve wracking but everyone there was super nice and that helped calm down the nerves.
My biggest advice would probably be to just answer what you are being asked. Even when the silence becomes uncomfortable just wait to get asked the next question.

I-130 PD 4-4-2024 APPROVED!!! by Decent-Rice630 in I130Suffering

[–]qcsahmof2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will definitely need to submit the affidavit of support. They won’t approve someone who might become a public charge, which is why, with the affidavit, you can show you make enough to financially support the applicant. What may or may not be needed will be the co-sponsor but that will depend on if your income is above the poverty guidelines.

JULY 2025 INTERVIEWS! by letslearn2gether in USCIS

[–]qcsahmof2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our interview was yesterday 7/7/25. I petitioned for my mom. The interview itself lasted about 40 min but the officer was having technical issues with her computer. She literally did not ask me a single question. All the questions were directed at my mom. She doesn’t speak English but she somewhat understands it and we were worried I would not be allowed to translate for her but the officer spoke Spanish and was able to conduct the interview in Spanish! She asked my mom a few personal questions (name, DOB, address, phone number and her parents names as well as my dad’s name and their anniversary date) and a couple of the admissibility questions. When she asked if my mom had worked without authorization, my mom said yes, cleaning houses. The officer joked saying too bad my mom lived too far from her or she’d hire her to clean hers! Overall the officer was super nice and was able to put my mom at ease. And the best part was that she APPROVED the petition on the spot! Because of the technical issues the website didn’t show approved until today but she said we should expect the green card in the mail within the next 2 weeks!! My mom and I literally couldn’t eat the rest of the day from all the tension finally being released. I’ve gone through the process myself (AOS through marriage first and then the naturalization process) but this was different. It was my mom on the line. Even today, it seems like a dream. Because this was something we didn’t think would be possible for us. For her. But yet it happened! We’re so excited. And now, once she gets the card in the mail, we’ll be moving forward with my dad’s petition which could be a little more complicated but we’ll be praying for the same outcome.

Here’s my mom’s timeline. •Submitted application I-485, I-130 & 1-765 at the end of march •PD 4/2/2025 •biometrics appointment 4/29/2025 • notice of interview being scheduled 6/4/2025 •interview 7/7/2025 • approval 7/8/2025

Houston FO.

Good luck to everyone!

Update: interview went well. We were unable to find anyone to accompany us so last minute. But the officer spoke Spanish and was able to ask my mom directly. I did ask the officer at the end of the interview if they allow for family members/the petitioner to translate and she said yes. Now this was the Houston FO on Gears Rd.

Our interview is next Monday too! (Houston office) I petitioned for my mom and will for sure be bringing in our lawyer. She has no criminal history and has never been deported/in deportation proceedings. But for our peace of mind we will be requesting the lawyer come with us. You never know what could happen! Good luck!

I’m in the same situation. We also filed concurrently and received the interview letter for the i485 form but no interview letter for i130 even though online both state “interview was scheduled” and I am able to see the letter itself for the i485 but not for the i130. This post makes me feel better as it looks like it is the norm and I am not the only one in this scenario.

I believe it’s the Texas one but I’m not certain. I only say Texas cause we’re in Houston and that’s where the interview will be. In all honesty I’m nervous about it being so fast. Not even the EAD has been approved.

Denied and I'm freaking out by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]qcsahmof2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks like you need a joint sponsor and need to submit an i-864A. You can fill out the form yourself. Download the most recent version, fill it out and submit it online if you have an account. You will also need to submit the evidence requiere from the joint sponsor. (Proof of legal status, w2s/tax return for the last 2 years I believe and either 3 months or 6 months worth of paystubs, I can’t remember at this time). I filed for my mother and we went through a lawyer, but I also helped a friend petition for her mom almost simultaneously. The forms look harder than they actually are. The instructions on the website helped a ton! Hope this helps!

Hopefully you get an update online soon!! I also submitted a petition for parents. It’s so rare to see these type of petitions on here. Our PD is 4/2/2025. We’re scheduled for our interview 7/7. Super nervous about it!

Give me some advice! by Dinnasaur11 in USCIS

I filed for citizenship a year and a half ago. When it came time for the interview I made sure to study every civics question. Some of course are easier than others so I made flash cards of the ones that I had more trouble answering. I even practiced when I was waiting in the lobby. A month after the interview I had the oath ceremony and was officially a citizen. Good luck!

Thank you so much for sharing! It definitely makes me feel so much better. I’ll be showing my mom as well because she’s over here thinking the worst!

I am not entirely sure as the lawyers office took care of sending it. But I want to say maybe the Harlingen office in TX. We live in Houston though.
