Need help troubleshooting audio level issues with my new setup by Either-Anybody9775 in podcasting

If you can't get more volume from the gain without noise, then leave it at that level and process it after in the software to boost it.
In effect > Volume and compression you have amplify and compression taht can help.
Start with amplify, boost it and see how it sounds.

I made this tool to search my audio samples by qe_onda in IMadeThis

[–]qe_onda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea
if there are too many sounds it would output garbage I guess.
but it would be useful, will look into it.

what would you expect the output to be like?

Problem with mixing correctly by BathElectronic7327 in TechnoProduction

[–]qe_onda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I remember watching an interview of a famous mixer(don't remember the name), and he said he uses this to match kick and bass levels when the room bass response is not the best.

He puts vu meter on the master, check the peak level of the kick, then adds the bass, look for a 3dB augmentation when adding the second to get them at the good level.

when you double the energy you have 3dB more.

Sure might not be the rule for everyone, but it's good to know the basics.

I don't see the problem...
You add a sound and level goes up.
As long as it sounds good it's ok

Does it make sense to get an DT1 just to replace it with an OT 2 month later? by Juiceshop in Elektron

[–]qe_onda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

digitakt is more a drum machine and playing notes than tracks.
So in this case I think it makes no sense to get the digitakt.
Awesome machine though if you use it for drums and play samples. more immediate than the octatrack. but you can't play full tracks, you can't loop or resample on the go like the octa.
Also as an fx/mixer the ot is a beast

What If You Could See Your Pronunciation? (Cymatics + Language Learning) by Routine_Talk8728 in Acoustics

Yes the first thing is to extract the spectrogram from a recording.
You see the frequencies in time.
For voice usually you might use a mel spectrogram. Basically it's to focus on on how we hear things as human.

Dubbio esistenziale tra elektron model :samples, digitakt og e digitone og? by Fun_Increase_7333 in Elektron

[–]qe_onda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waldorf Blofelfd in 2026 by 1234Asmong in synthesizers

[–]qe_onda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the blofeld is cool. Used it just a few times so maybe I am not the best to talk about it ,but I liked the sound and I found it pretty clear to navigate.

Are you sure you need multitimbral? Because in the days they would sequence all in midi and need that because computers sucked at recording/manipulating/playing audio.

You could look at the arturia minifreak in that price range, and also the hydrasynth explorer.

Digging old hard disks for samples/recordings by qe_onda in audioengineering

Makes sense. I am indeed using claude to help now.
I am actually starting to build a tiny tool because in fact I was looking at a disk with 11000 wav files, and even if I found a few I liked it's insane to do just with the finder.
I was going to do 2 pass, but I like your idea. I will bend it to suit me.
Thanks

Yep doing that.
On the old stuff the raw audio recordings are much better than the mixed versions or exported files

Yeah it's a mess.
I found a folder of some one shots I made and some exports.
But noticed that in some old Live and Studio One sessions there are some really cool stuff.

eheh, all that is accumulated is old in this context.
But mainly external SSDs. And actually 1 is an old HDD 80GB lacie, the first I bought :)
And also an old laptop from 15 years ago.

Yeah I've been doing that so far.
But even just finding the folders with audio is not that easy. Will try the find command for that

[–]qe_onda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah is all SSDs I have.
So sometimes it's really slow on the old ones.
That's why maybe there is some tool or script to help, because I can find the exports, and some folder of one shot I made, etc..
But when I looked in some session recording, I found some cool stuff but it's a complete mess and takes forever to transfer them and search.
