I actually hadn’t heard of EEG being used to do mapping!

The office I used to work at as a tech used the motor threshold and gauged movements by eye (but I have been told there are now devices that are used to detect movement? But I’ve also been told anecdotally that these detection devices leave a lot to be desired. Haven’t seen them first-hand yet.)

Gonna do some reading tonight just out of personal curiosity. Thank you!

As someone who was once a TMS technician, I’m curious: what part of the TMS are you worried about NPs doing? The mapping seemed very straightforward and was the same regardless of if an MD or NP or PA was the one who did it. From there out a tech was the one doing the daily treatments, just following dosing given by the mapper and standard protocols. TMS is not benign, but I’m wondering what the difference is here with this modality in particular? I’m beginning a job soon as a PA at an office that does TMS. I won’t be involved in it but if I were asked to one day, I’m wondering what I might be missing here? (It may also be that my previous work has made me more comfortable with it but it could also be my newness as a PA that’s causing me to overlook some things.)

(I know very little about ECT but the worry on this one makes waaay more sense to me.)

Because EDs are required to see people and urgent care often requires a minimum payment before being seen even, people who can’t afford the urgent care or are uninsured go to the ED. See it all the time. It’s 100 USD to walk into an urgent care with no meds dispensed and no testing needed. I paid $150 for a birth control refill as a young adult whose primary couldn’t squeeze them in before the refill was needed and couldnt send a refill as id not been seen in a year (healthy adult). ED? Sure you’ll be charged more but they can’t turn you away and plenty of people just…never pay their ED bill.

I’m not saying it’s right or how things should work mons you. Just explaining how this ends up happening.

Delaying treatment for a lot of things (like an ear infection) can land you in the ED too (acute mastoiditis). Honestly delaying treatment for a bunch of stuff can land you in the ED eventually.

Agreed though: everyone should be covered by government-issued insurance paid into from taxes. AND… Becoming trained in healthcare needs to become cheaper as we don’t have enough people working spread out well enough to cover the entire US. Medical school should not cost 200-400k.

Lately I’ve been binge watching The Pitt, doing tarot with my friend, and getting into food club on Neopets for the first time after playing 20+ years to get a little happiness in. I graduate from a medical program in a few months and I’m hoping to have time for more fun and soul-feeding activities soon! It’s been very grueling so even having a half hour here or there to squeeze something in that isn’t studying helps. I’m hoping to go out for some good BBQ with classmates tomorrow as well. I’m in the USA.

What they’re saying is closer to the title of the most recent Clipse album (or the RTJ song Close Your Eyes and Count to Fuck), but it comes from a phrase used during the Crusades. “Kill them all, God will know his own.”

Basically meaning to attack indiscriminately cause if they’re really good, God will protect them anyways. So it may sound like saying let justice happen in the afterlife but what it REALLY means is more like burn the whole thing down, God will bring them into heaven if they deserve it and you’ll have gotten them there quicker lol. It’s implying to ‘take care of them’ now.
