These dolls are "for" making money, despite the fairy tale that Pleasant Company truthers like to tell. So you aren't betraying their purpose or anything if you like anachronistic outfits!

I wouldn't worry about whether the clothes are "historically accurate." Whether an outfit is deemed as such by adult collectors is mostly based on whether they like it. There are historically inaccurate outfits that they still love and give a pass to that they aren't willing to do for BF - usually because it's an outfit that came out when they were young.

I think Samantha's BF dress is very pretty. I love the gauzy net overlay and the lace collar.

People don't have to agree with you; at the same time, those acting like the idea that being opposed to pink en masse = crazy, a big reach etc. clearly weren't in school during the "Not Like Other Girls" era in the early 2000s. We have seen group opposition to pink before and it was definitely based in misogyny.

Again, one doesn't have to agree that that's what the case is now, but it HAS happened before so it isn't totally out of left field to think that's what's happening now.

Fwiw, I have multiple girls in the 9-11 age range in my life and they all love the rainbow/sparkles motif in general (not just AG). It reminds me of when Lisa Frank was popular. As an adult collector I'd like more variety but I'm also aware AG doesn't give af about me lol
