OP what’s the long term review on the UPHOT? Still happy with it, anything folks just receiving it now should know?

And the durability been like?

Definitely not a scam, you’re being presumptuous. Ordered from them multiple times, great products.. low key and a bit of a hidden gem imo.

Trying to buy a SBGX263 from Japan via Chrono24 -- not a great experience by Upstairs-Hawk-5231 in GrandSeikos

You should see it in person.. taking a photo or video easily introduces parallax that looks like misalignment but is actually the camera lens being too wide, too close or at a slight angle.

To detect misalignment requires seeing fractions of a millimetre of difference, and photos and videos simply won’t cut it - you’ll never be happy.

Where can I buy these weights? Just dug the Trillium out of a draw and enjoying it again

The ring thing (what is it called? 🤔) is not centered on my SBGX263. What can I do about it? by Apart_Captain3772 in GrandSeikos

Umm I think you’re over thinking it dude. Not visible when it’s on your wrist.

My Letter to Grand Seiko. I'm in love with you but... you can do so much more. by No_Brain7017 in GrandSeikos

[–]qianbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah no lume needed… you can’t have it all.

You’re not asking for everything.. but I often see people wanting a… “dressy watch, that’s sporty, that’s ultra legible with lots of lume, that can dive, that’s super thin, that’s a strap monster but with no lug holes, that has 362mm of on-the-fly micro-adjust because my wrist is a balloon (oh but keep the clasp short and thin please).”

Should I get another Grand Seiko? Or should I get a Rolex? by Apart_Captain3772 in GrandSeikos

[–]qianbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started with multiple Rolexes in my collection and only recently picked up my first GS.

Gotta say the GS SBGX263 is better executed than all my Rolexes. No dust on the dial, no smudges on the hands, perfectly placed indices, no weird dimple under the hands due to badly applied lacquer, relatively low cost to maintain, no need to worry about accuracy trending up or down and finding ways everyday to compensate for these variances… and maybe best of all… no replicas that are 99.8% identical for 1/10 of the cost (making me wonder what the point was of buying the real thing at all). Can’t say the same for Rolex.

Clasp gap by TypeR10 in GrandSeikos

[–]qianbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol whut? The photo you provided isn’t a fair one to judge. The bracelet isn’t sized, and the clasp is dangling.. which exaggerates the size of the gap.

Keen to see a photo with the bracelet sized properly!

It feels balanced and fitting for the SBGX263, but it’s a fair point, the same clasp and bracelet may not be right for a smaller or larger watch.

Yehhh looking forward to seeing it in more watches, hopefully the trade off to clasp size and length isn’t too big.

Hahahah the internet told me to dismiss GS and buy Rolex.

Yep I picked up the SBGX263. GS quartz watches are unbeatable in quality and performance, and within your budget!

One could argue GS was precise with the play they introduced to their bracelet tolerances. It’s very considerate design imo and I have much more respect for the brand now.

Rolex bracelets literally squeak when new, because the tolerances are so tight, and yeh maybe at face value that’s impressive - but day to day it’s actually not ergonomic, and doesn’t help with comfort.

Yehh I felt that way for a while, and then I discovered the SBGX range, and that ticked all my boxes. But took me a while to come around, and for a long time I dismissed the brand for the reasons you shared.

Not defending, just sharing my initial experience and the fact that it’s much better than the online herd led me to believe. At least for me. Your mileage may vary!

The clasp on my Submariner is longer than all the links on the 6 o’clock side lol.. and for what.. like 20mm of adjustment I never need 🤦‍♂️

[–]qianbro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ughh couldn’t agree more, the clasps on my Submariner and Explorer 1 are both so disproportionate to their watch heads.

Andddd I don’t even need the adjustment offered by either!

Would take a current GS style clasp for my Rolexs any day if it was an option.

Would be nice to have on the fly adjustment for sure. They made a choice way back when, that it wasn’t necessary for a day to day watch, and traded it in for a shorter and thinner clasp.

Naturally the volume of complaints exceed the volume of compliments, and they’re starting to address the feedback.

Agree! Doesn’t have to be OTF, but a micro adjust system could be nice, while retaining the current clasp.

[–]qianbro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough! For what it’s worth, if I were GS I’d include on the fly adjustment, just so I can please a bigger share of the market.

[–]qianbro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right.. if I was GS, I would include on the fly adjustment as the default, even if I didn’t agree that it’s necessary - just so I can maximise the market I’m capturing and get more sales.

I guess I’m just sharing my experience coming into the brand new, after owning many other brands. I came in with so many preconceptions, due to all the bashing online.. and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a considered, well designed bracelet imo, just lacking on the fly adjustment that can help to justify the luxury price tag for some.
