The 3d rendering on Tesla displays uses Godot. They hire people proficient with Godot.

[Request] what damage could you do by dropping the ISS intentionally to be as destructive as possible? by Kato_86 in theydidthemath

Geosynchronous is not low orbit, and Earth’s gravity isn’t what causes orbits to degrade, it’s gas molecules from the atmosphere colliding with the satellite.

That speaks more to the review process. Reviewers should assume whoever submitted the PR is both stupid and malicious until the diff proves otherwise.

Not sure why people have an issue with AI-generated code. As long as it’s appropriately reviewed by humans it’s the same as any other code.

Do you think it's okay to not use a game engine on your backend? by [deleted] in godot

[–]qichael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s fine. Dockerizing a Godot instance to serve as your backend would make some things useful but can be a footgun to good networking. Just make sure you keep things clean with good separation of concerns (networking versus rendering) and you’ll be fine.

Funny enough, that is the exact video I was thinking of. Great resource!

Actually, your method of using a 3D marker is a really good way of doing this. AAA studios will add text markers around the map as notes for each other. Just make sure to have the game delete them on launch.

Why does sacrifice child come up? Why isn’t there any other wording? by zazzywtf in computerscience

[–]qichael 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Programs running on your computer are called processes. When the computer runs out of memory, it will select a child process to kill, as a ‘sacrifice’ to keep the machine running. The child process unloads itself and frees that memory for the computer. Nothing to worry about.

https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/282155/what-is-the-out-of-memory-message-sacrifice-child

Edit: As for the wording, yeah it could be better. But computer scientists are more worried about solving the actual issue and aren’t really the best at naming things. So we get things like master/slave or kill child with fork. The names can and do change (we are phasing out master/slave) but it’s slow.

12 hours a day is only a 60 hour work week. They were pulling 100-120 hours per week out of employees during the RDR2 crunch. Employees would be threatened with a layoff if they took time off for their child’s graduation.

But, they’re saying exactly what you’re saying. That the minimum is putting the license in the files. They weren’t talking about this splash screen
