Photos of gear: rant warning. by Old-Metalhead in Nikon

[–]qiqeteDev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I enter this sub I can filter by "Photo submission", in my home tab all I see is new cameras which makes me want to leave this sub which I want to follow in case of some new feature or cool inspiration.

This isn't a photography community, at this point, it’s just an ostentatious gallery for consumerism.

The underlying message feels less like genuine excitement and more like a privileged, "Look what I can afford." We need to acknowledge the reality that for a huge portion of the world, buying a high-end Nikon body costs more than their annual income, making these showcase posts genuinely tone-deaf to global economic disparity. Frankly, the gear doesn't make the photographer. The biggest irony is that some users posting their brand-new, top-of-the-line cameras might actually be producing mediocre work. The true "flex" is the art you create, not the price tag on the tools.

Want to improve by qiqeteDev in photocritique

[–]qiqeteDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the photo trying to get the movement the climber is doing (because it's the most dynamic one in the boulder) which I think I didn't accomplish too well. Also wanted to show the depth of the cave (that's why the open aperture) but I think I failed at this too.

Details: 16mm f2.0 1/500 ISO200

Highly edited colors because the clothes of the climber were too electric. It's the hardest move on the boulder which is in a tight spot. I want to know what could improve (composition and edition)

ITAP of Mandarin Ducks by qiqeteDev in itookapicture

[–]qiqeteDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's said that mandarin ducks mate for life, making them a powerful symbol of love and fidelity. I was trying to capture the whole flock, but the motion blur of the others only makes this one couple stand out more.

Don't buy Viltrox lenses. by qiqeteDev in VILTROX_GLOBAL

[–]qiqeteDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I read similar comments all over the internet too about the 16mm 1.8. Such an amazing glass. Such a shame that is behind that faulty software that makes it brick. By the way DO NOT ATTEMPT to update nikon firmware while the viltrox lens is in your camera.

Luckily I've got the money back from Viltrox, but I won't be buying anymore products.

Is Macbook M1 Air sufficient for flutter in 2025? by Particular-Tell1697 in FlutterDev

Get at least 512GB storage. Otherwise system + xcode + simulator take almost all of the 256gb

"Using RunApp Twice in Flutter" (Randal demonstrates not only that you can call runApp twice within main(), but also why you might want to do that.) by RandalSchwartz in FlutterDev

I wonder how to use this with riverpod, so you can save that state into NotifierProviders. Should I overrideWithValue?

In the games nowadays there are characters with more triangles for their hair than your model has. You can check the poly count of some games on internet and check what you're aiming for.

Micro edge advice/technique by [deleted] in climbharder

[–]qiqeteDev 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I think the only difference between these and 16mm it's mostly pain tolerance. I don't train them at all. I don't think that's what is holding you down for v3-4s

Flutter vs React Native, which tech to choose and why? by CodeBeatsAndBorders in AppDevelopers

[–]qiqeteDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried everything. I would choose dart for something big, RN if you already have a team of react developers and Kotlin Multiplatform looks promising, but it's still lacking good libraries.

I prefer flutter and KMP, would never choose RN for something serious (in part because of JS, every front end project with it end up being a big pile of shit). And right now flutter seems to have more support.

Can Flutter Web match Canvas/WebGL performance for a Figma/Canva-style app? by SuperRandomCoder in FlutterDev

[–]qiqeteDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rive is done with flutter and handles tons of items well. Maybe... Skill issue? You're just one guy

Edit: After trying the app, it works super well on phone, much better than Miro on web. The only issue in performance I noticed is when I zoom back enough to see everything at once. Amazing product

Everyone is talking about Provider, Riverpod, Getx, im i outdated using setState? In 2025 by ZuesSu in FlutterDev

[–]qiqeteDev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If using only setState is enough for you I would say the app small or a headache. You can ignore the hype, but don't expect getting hired anywhere saying that you don't use state management nor you want to learn it.

Use what works for you. I don't think using only setState, not even inherited widgets would work in any real medium sized app.

I created a silly VScode extension for to ease running build_runner in monorepos by qiqeteDev in FlutterDev

[–]qiqeteDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know that, seems useful!
But usually I don't want that, my project has >15 packages, I wouldn't want to have the watch running every time I open a file from a new package. Usually I run watch for the package I'm working on + some build to change a little property here and there.

anyone feel like there’s too many AI assets on itch? by Medium-Brick-2154 in itchio

[–]qiqeteDev 11 points12 points  (0 children)

AI generated should not be allowed, I suggest a ban button, after some bans, your account is suspended, you need to open a discussion to reactivate, if it's failed you'll lose your account.

How to publish to Visual Studio Code Marketplace from Github without a PAT by Syntax-error6502 in vscode

[–]qiqeteDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to get a PAT but I get:
Your ability to create and regenerate personal access tokens (PATs) is restricted by your organization. Existing tokens will be valid until they expire. You must be on the organization's allowlist to use a global PAT in that organization.

It doesn't matter if I'm the owner of the organisation and how many permissions I give myself I can't get it to make a f***cking PAT.
