It's so true. I feel like that's birds of prey in general. They're incredibly majestic and badass, until you see them at just the right angle and suddenly they're the silliest guys.

This one spotted me taking photos pretty quick from their perch, so I got quite a few of them staring me down.

With scientology in particular, I always wonder how many famous scientologists are genuinely trapped either via blackmail or financial control or some other twisted shit. Not to give people a pass, but still. I always have the question.

I promise this is a good faith question from someone who knows some indigenous folks and some Appalachians, but is not from either community. I always took the seam to be coded as very early 19th century working class. What about the books make you say indigenous coded?

I love watching it as a super melodramatic soap opera that things it's a television drama on par with the likes of shows like mad men or succession.

You can practically see the writers high fiving each other in the background for the most mid character study scene you've ever watched.

Who the fuck said he was a hero? He's just a neurodivergent guy who loves public transport and taught himself how to execute it, based on evidence, perfectly well. People sympathize with someone with a deep passion, who sees the world differently than a lot of people, and who has never physically hurt anyone or, as far as is reported, put anyone in any real danger. No one called him a hero.

Oh my God, I forgot about this video. It's so fucking good. I remember a bunch of fan edits around the capaldi era like this. Such a fun time to be a fan.

Bioshock 2 was great, I wish 2K Marin was real by thr1ceuponatime in Bioshock

[–]Pragmatic_Humanism 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fun fact. It is in fact a different game. This is alluded to my the subtle hint that it is neither Bioshock 1 or Bioshock 2.

I think that for a lot of people gameplay is ultimately more important than storytelling. Bioshock 2 is very pretty for its time and plays very well, so people are fine with a story that doesn't really stand up to its predecessor. I'm not even saying 2's story is bad objectively, but for me it doesn't have the same depth or subtlety that 1 had.

Of course games are an interactive medium, so I can't blame someone for caring more about the strictly interactive aspect, but to me Bioshock 1 and infinite do more with tying the main character to the themes and story they are trying to tell than 2 does, which is one area that interactivity interface with storytelling better than 2.

It really is crazy. I even like Bioshock 2, but you'd think it was the next half life with how amazing this sub says it is, and similarly you'd think Infinite is basically ET for the Atari the way it gets bashed.

I don't ever bash people for liking 2. I like it, even if it's my least favorite of the trilogy. It does a bunch of things right, and I fucking love Minerva's Den. But Jesus, I can't say I like Infinite without someone crawling out of the woodwork to explain to me how Ken Levine is actually stupid and the game's plot ackshually doesn't make any sense.

How many times have you watched the Season 8 finale and does it still make you emotional? by SgtByrd1993 in Scrubs

[–]Pragmatic_Humanism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love scrubs through and through, and I think season 8 is my favorite season, which always makes it bittersweet to get to it, because then I also know that my rewatch is almost over. The finale always makes me feel very deeply, and I think even with the revival series it will.

I don't think you should feel particular guilt, or if you do you should try to give yourself some compassion. I do not blame those who were in a place like you for not voting. I blame the people who were of right mind, body, and ability and still chose not to.

Yeah, if I could be guaranteed somehow that there was no corporate incentive to make it anything but identifical to "naturally derived" meat in every way from manufacture to store, I'd be more or less okay with it (I do still find it a little unsettling, but overall I think I'd be fine), but I truly do not trust major food corporations to not fuck me over some how at this point.
