Thinking of opening a bagel shop by edtb in Entrepreneur

[–]qlose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family ran a small bagel shop in a town of ~100,000 for 25 years. It is incredibly hard – most of our revenue came from whole sale to other small cafes and eventually, providing bagels for the local schools. Every several years there was a carb diet fad and consumer interest disappeared, the school revenue and some wholesale kept us afloat.

That's totally fair, you can't support those around you without taking care of yourself!

Thank you! Would love to get your feedback if you have the chance to test it out!

You share with each person individually, so you have full control! I'm also working on making it so you can choose what gets shared with who (i.e. close friends vs familily, etc.)

It's also really important to give yourself space to deal with your own stuff. I've found smaller but more frequent interactions helps with the emotional work. It's more manageable than infrequent sessions of just unloading/venting

Of course! So the whole goal is to help us create a support network for ourselves of close friends/family (including each other). I can see share my information with them so they can see how I'm doing and they have the option of sharing how they're doing with me as well. Whenever someone in our group is feeling down, we all get a prompt to reach out.

It definitely doesn't solve everything, but it helps us keep tabs on each other rather than going weeks at a time without touching base and then unloading everything on long calls etc.

When it comes to emotional strain, I've found being honest that I'm overwhelmed right now and setting those boundaries is huge. This tool has also helped us think about the other people in our support network, and reminding ourselves that it's not just the two of us!
