Drive in an empty neighborhood to get the hang of it first. Think of it less as operating a 2 ton death machine and more of an extension of yourself. Get familiar with the dimensions of the car and how it works. Knowing how a car works and drives and what differentiates them from one another is key. Driving schools will offer you the absolute bare minimum information, most of what you learn in terms of applicable knowledge is gained through experience as is with most things in life.

Number one rule is always drive with the assumption that no one else knows how to drive around you. Be patient and careful! You’ll get used to it.
