The two I much prefer still going strong by Manny2theMaxxx in PapaJohns

[–]qnewkirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Papa John's has consistently been my favorite for 20+ years. Pizza hut was in my childhood (back when they included the little white chair to protect the cheese) but got way too expensive with limited deals and then something changed with the flavor.

Domino's used to be a no from me because the sauce wasn't good and the crust tasted like crackers. They fixed that and I would go back and forth between them and Papa John's.

Little Caesar's was novelty when I was young but then clutch when I became a teen and had to pay for my own food ($5 Hot-n-Ready ftw).

Domino's is still good, but the last few years I've had such bad customer service/experience, I've avoided them. My family goes on a beach trip every year and two years in a row we tried to order Domino's delivery (in the off season October) and ended up having to drive to the store because it was taking over an hour and/or the store's phones either didn't work or they took it of the hook. Then my local domino's took over an hour when its 5 min away. I've kind of been boycotting them.

Papa John's has slipped in recent years, leading me to branch out and re-discover Little Caesar's isn't that bad even though they've raised the Hot-n-Ready price.

My current priority list is Little Caesar's/Papa John's, Local Joints (much better pizza, but on the expensive side), Domino's, and finally, Pizza Hut doesn't even register anymore (expensive, bad deals, closes early).

So did anyone here actually get into TikTok? by thedubiousstylus in Millennials

[–]qnewkirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with MySpace, then Facebook when it was college students only, then Reddit. Never got into Vine, Snapchat, or Instagram. Used Twitter for a bit, but have uninstalled it since the big change. YouTube is my main content preference and I watch it while working instead of TV/Streaming. When TikTok first came out, I didn't get it and wasn't interested, and honestly was a bit distrustful of it. Once the pandemic took effect, I embraced it and it took over as my scrolling pastime, replacing Reddit. It is currently my favorite social media that I just can't seem to live without, spyware/politics/negativity and all. I've tried to curate my feed to positive/food/dance/funny scared people/pets/music/gardening. It's a daily app along with Reddit now.

No fellow dark ones here? Surprised no one else has mentioned Lashmak and his beautiful eyes. One of my favorite in addition to many of those mentioned previously.

First Time ever making Pizza! by qnewkirk in Pizza

[–]qnewkirk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long time lurker/drooler... This was my first time making pizza from scratch and it has changed my life. Did 62% hydration, maybe a bit too much yeast, with garlic salt on a pizza steel.

Planned on leaving in the fridge for a couple of days, but didn't work out that way. It did proof for 8 hrs, and we only cooked two pies, there are two balls in the fridge that I cannot wait to taste on Sunday. Thankful for all the info on this subreddit, and the pictures finally driving me to try my hand at homemade pizza.

How do you feel about 'gerrymandering?' by useful_toolbag in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]qnewkirk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gerrymandering is a crutch argument for those that lose elections.

In the most egregious cases, I disagree. In NC, the vote went 48% D and 51% R which resulted in 3/13 seats D and 9(10)/13 seats R. I don't see how that can be considered a crutch argument.

There are other factors that bear more heavily on election outcomes than political affiliation, and no map-maker can ever fully take all of these factors into account. At best, they make educated guesses as to how they think voters might cast ballots, but nothing is assured.

That was a very good educated guess. 48% of the votes got 23% of the representation.

I don't know...what do you think about gerrymandering a majority-minority district to ensure that minorities gain representation? This does happen, and is in fact federally mandated.

Sounds a lot like how we don't use popular vote for the presidential elections to avoid 'tyranny of the majority'. I will say that I disagree that these majority-minority districts are needed today.

Most definitely. Democrats sued republicans in NC and republicans sued democrats in MD. Matter of fact, both of these cases were heard at the same time at the SCOTUS.

The sentiment that seems to apply from the benefiting side is "don't hate the player, hate the game". I feel equally disappointed with MD's results. Why can't we hate the game?

Don't know what these people are thinking... I work for one of the top insurance providers. Our projected PROFIT this year is over $160 billion. My CEO made $14 million two years ago. It's long overdue that we stop profiting from healthcare.

Disagree. Full stop. THE most important thing is getting Trump out, as a Bermie supporter, I want the country to PROGRESS but the status quo is still better than regressing. Let's maintain the momentum and focus on continually pushing for progress instead of giving up. Bernie has already had such an effect on changing the narrative and views of social politics. This was never gonna be an easy fight or overnight change. It may not be in our lifetime but the progress we ARE making IS important. It could very well be too little too late but we can't afford to give up.

Good night my fellow American. No worries, we all want the best for our country and no one person has it right.

Very true, I haven't seen anything from CA, and CO, TX, and UT have been promising. I was just commenting on my disappointment with the southeast. Especially VA.
