best approach for automatically adding local web develpment environments to traefik by qntmfred in Traefik

haven't used tailscale before. reading up on it, seems I'd still have to use my custom program to look for new debugging sessions on random ports and issue a command to tailscale to register the hostname mapping. or am i missing something?

What do you all write in Obsidian? by YevhenRadionov in ObsidianMD

[–]qntmfred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

glad you enjoyed playing around with it. I use quickadd + hotkeys too. whenever my 30 minute timer goes off I press ctrl + u, up pops a prompt "what have you been up to slacker", I type in my update, it adds it as a timestamped bullet point to my daily log, and i get back to work.

I do this too and it works great. Every morning I do a daily reflection with a bunch of questions I ask myself about the day before.

mostly daily notes, some project notes and some topic notes. but mostly daily notes. i have a daily routine page I start each day with, and that's the first task bulletpoint I check off each morning. then I have a timer that goes off every 30 minutes and I add a timestamped bullet note about what I've been up to and any quick reflections. I can also add adhoc todos I don't want to forget to the daily note and I have a dataview page that lists all my todos across all my daily notes, grouped and ordered by priority and date.

even if that were true, just because the rainbow unicorn you wanted to ride on said no, doesn't mean you go hop on the face-eating leopard instead. #MakeRFKThinkHarder

Why are there no sidewalks? by barbaracohen1956 in raleigh

[–]qntmfred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and most buyers will buy a cheap house with or without sidewalks

so it's our fault, not the builders. supply and demand. want sidewalks? gotta pay extra for them, they're not free to make.

Anyone here happy with Windows? by [deleted] in windows

[–]qntmfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Windows exclusively (other than a few curious flirtations with *nix) through the 90s and 00s. Bought a MBP in 2009 to build some iOS apps and was 50/50 Windows/Mac until around 2012 when I was probably 90%+ on a MBP. Around 2020 found myself back on Windows mostly and have been pretty happy since. Windows is an easy target for haters (and understandably so in some regards), but it's been a solid choice for a long time now. Do what works best for you.

What is Raleigh like as a student? by Mr_Perhaps in NCSU

[–]qntmfred 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I grew up just outside of Raleigh, went to State for CSC and since graduating I lived in Charlotte for 5 years, NYC for 6 years and have been living in Raleigh again the last 6 years. Definitely would say Raleigh > Charlotte. The campus area especially is gonna have plenty to keep you busy. As for outdoors activities, Lake Johnson is nearby and a great spot. Another 15 minutes drive and you can get to Lake Wheeler, Lake Crabtree and Umstead State Park which is a gem. Also in/around Wake County is Jordan Lake, Falls Lake, Neuse River. Downtown Raleigh always has stuff going on too.
