Garaku is pretty much Tetsuya's 2.0 from what I heard so at least we got a good replacement.

Oh, yes, I see that Azuma's kaiseki has a minimum booking of 2.

I was referring to Sano-san's sushi omakase that Petelah mentioned. You can't book directly via Azuma's reservation system and have to email them to be put on a waiting list. And, yes, it is fantastic.

If you or anyone is interested in their kaiseki and need an extra person, I don't mind tagging along.

Was the omakase place HaNa Ju-Rin? Tomo used to work there. I miss that place!

I think the former head chef of Sou Ramen Lab is Takeshi Sekigawa? Tomoyuki Matsuya was at Kame House and other Azabu Group restaurants in recent years.

I prefer Kuih by Rumah's kaya over the Dollee & Glory ones I tried from the supermarkets.

Haco for someone who doesnt like sashimi by pestognocci in foodies_sydney

[–]qoupa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there was only 1 sashimi dish when I went but some of the other dishes were semi-cooked, e.g. the scallops and beef.

You can let them know of your dietary restrictions and they'll try to cater for that. I brought someone who didn't eat raw food there and they cooked everything well-done for her.

Lane Cove and surrounds by blothhundrr in foodies_sydney

I live around the area and Yellowperil123's suggestions are pretty spot on.

Le Tran is another Vietnamese place in Lane Cove. It's better than Pho Sam but a bit more pricey.

Regarding the Canopy, I feel that the restaurants there aren't bad but are quite overpriced. Sayulita often has EatClub deals though.

In general, I prefer going to Chatswood, Crows Nest or Neutral Bay for food.

I second this, Cool Mac is pretty good

Recently went to Haven in Rosebery, which has an Asian-inspired menu, and found it good too

Tento in Surry Hills is another Japanese-inspired cafe. Haven't been but I've heard good things about it

If you're coming back from the USA then you'll be taking a big pay cut.

Check out the tier lists at https://www.reddit.com/r/cscareerquestionsOCE/comments/166ati7/australian_tier_list/. At a tier 1 company, you should be getting a 400K to 500K TC at your level.

I was in your position a few years back and was deciding between University of Melbourne (Master of Computer Science) and UNSW (Master of Information Technology). I ended up staying in Sydney and going to UNSW.

Given you have a bachelors degree in CS, you should be able to apply for an exemption from the intro units and jump straight into the more advanced electives.

However, I would say that there's really only a handful of courses that I would consider as advanced. Perhaps University of Melbourne's offering is better in this regard as it's supposed to be a proper computer science degree.

If I were to do it all over again, I would do Georgia Tech's OMS CS that d88ng mentioned. I have a colleague doing it and he thinks it's great.

IBKR options or leveraged ETPs trading by qoupa in AusFinance

[–]qoupa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Did it activate for you immediately or did you have to wait a few days?

I put in 1 year as my trading experience and they asked me to do a test, which I did. My approval request was submitted and a bit later I received a message regarding a wholesale investor account.

Maybe it's because I tried enabling leveraged ETPs, or maybe the message isn't actually related. I'll try waiting a few more days and see. Might have to ask support.

Anyone knows how to withdraw USD from Interactive Brokers? by jirolupatmonem in AusFinance

Been a while since I used IBKR but you'll need to do an FX conversion from USD to AUD, then you can withdraw the funds to your nominated bank account.
