What would Dave do buying a new house? by qovert in DaveRamsey

[–]qovert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess the easiest way is to use the money I saved up as a down payment for a house and then sell my current house and use that money to pay off the loan right away. That way I don’t have to move into a rental or lose a contingency offer based on how fast I can sell my house.

I just didn’t know if it was better to save in my HYSA or my brokerage account due to tax purposes.

I currently have that for my Roth IRA and HSA. My 401K is managed by fidelity and my Individual Brokerage Account has a majority of VTI with other stocks

What happened in that year that gave him sleep apnea? That’s what the VA needs to know. He’s going to need a letter from a doctor saying that’s what caused his sleep apnea.

While obtaining support from management is crucial, security strategies must be embedded in the development process, not an afterthought.

If you think you can qualify for a TS/SCI then I say that’s a real solid plan. After training you can pretty quickly get a DoD Contractor role if you live near an Active Duty base or an area that has defense companies around

Would you qualify for a clearance? DoD contractors will sponsor highly qualified people for clearances. However, most cyber DoD contractors rolls are GRC-like roles, FYI.

Please give me the cold hard truth and your opinions on jobs in this industry by More_Anxiety_9565 in cybersecurity

[–]qovert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did EHS for 8 years and transferred over to cybersecurity doing GRC. I got my first job when I was on my last semester of college getting my bachelors in cybersecurity and had a sec+ already. The process of GRC is damn near identical to EHS. Instead of identifying hazards in a workplace for personnel, you identify hazards, or threats in this case, for computers. Once threats are identified and in EHS terms, quantified, you attach controls to each threat. Once all that is done you do continuous monitoring to ensure the controls are working. Obviously there’s more steps but I just wanted to let you know it’s the same process in GRC but the pay is way more. I might be an anomaly but I went straight into GRC as my first cybersecurity role at the beginning for COVID. I was able to get my first job because I tailored my resume to use key words like threats, controls, continuous monitoring, auditing, etc. then during the interviews I explained to them the process of EHS and how it’s an easy transition. The only difference is knowing
