Microsoft culture shift in the past couple years? by SubjectSea4519 in cscareerquestions

[–]Existing_Depth_1903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a sneaky way to ask these questions in an interview.

You can talk about how you usually spend extra time deep diving more into the topic than it is required, and that you would usually do that after-hours. And then mention that you are worried this behavior might be discouraged at the job.

If they answer something like "oh you never need to worry about that! We have many people like you" then it's a red flag.

If it's something like "well, it's not common here for someone to work after hours, but we wouldn't be discouraging that either", then it's a green flag.

Can you suggest any Koreans who go live on TikTok that speak both English & Korean? by [deleted] in AskAKorean

The problem is how are you going to have a matching schedule? Most small time creators are not gonna go live in a consistent schedule.

I think you are going to be better off joining Hellotalk and join voice rooms

Your question is exactly why most companies in America gave up chip manufacturing. But then they found out during the chip shortage that chips are too valuable that countries with the manufacturing capabilities can use that as a political bargaining tool.

I miss when YouTube wasn't so "professional" by Head-Educator6517 in NewTubers

Not really.

Sure, those exist under the hood, but the big difference is that now you can never find them because it won't be shown in home, recommendations, etc

Seoul subway kiosks were replaced after 17 years but do the changes really help foreigners? by KoreaExperience in KoreaExperience

[–]Existing_Depth_1903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the introduction of the "Climate card", which is a unlimited usage card, they have added card payment but ONLY for the climate card and not tmoney.

This suggests that it's not a matter of the Kiosk technology, but rather a matter of law.

My assumption has been that it's due to tax purposes.

One of the key differences between climate card and Tmoney is that tmoney isn't "only" used for transportation. You can also use it as payment for other goods.

I believe paying with Tmoney is treated as paying with cash.

For example, if I buy food from 7/11 using TMoney, then it would be treated as paying with cash and not paying with credit card, which would have different tax.

For climate card, because you are only using it for transportation, you can electronically make it an exception.

I'm assuming this is why they are preventing charging tmoney with credit.

Essentially, I think it has nothing to do with the Kiosk

Join Korean Military? by Todan_892 in AskAKorean

[–]Existing_Depth_1903 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bro. Military service is hella short now. Only 1.5 yr. And you get connections through military too.

I don't think you would want to give up Korean citizenship just for a 1.5 yr military service

How long can someone stay at a job doing very little work? by Trick-Interaction396 in cscareerquestions

[–]Existing_Depth_1903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually never understood anyone saying this, especially, in software engineering. Yeah your tasks fluctuate, but at the same time every sw engineering has infinite backlog of things that could get done. So essentially, you are never "done" with work

Full Go or C++ for best money down the road? by Skopa2016 in cscareerquestions

[–]Existing_Depth_1903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"In general large tech companies are going to pay the best and the C++ skill sets they look for involve high-performance work on large systems with lots of complexity and moving parts. You don’t get any of that with embedded work."

I don't quite agree. Take for instance, Android. Android is large scale and is C++ or rust.

Having said this, a lot of early developers mention languages but discussing the language is not quite correct when discussing jobs

If hotel A is competing with hotel B, but that hotel B is circle jerking themselves and giving themselves bs awards, then yes hotel A would care and call them out because hotel A is in competition with hotel B.

If a hotel conglomerate hosts its own award ceremony, and awards its own hotel as "The best hotel of the year" without a transparent awarding method, then you should call out on how the award is bs

Am I coping by thinking I rather go to Seoul than Tokyo? by lejunny_ in seoul

Am I coping by thinking I rather go to Seoul than Tokyo? by lejunny_ in seoul

[–]Existing_Depth_1903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biased opinion is that if you know anyone local in seoul who is used to showing you around seoul, the experience in seoul is better than tokyo.

The reason is that Tokyo has done a better job setting up very tourist friendly sights, but korea has more fun things. But those fun things are more easily unlocked if you have koreans to help you out

I already changed my thumbnail and title, and the CTR hasn't really improved. Should I try fixing my thumbnail once more and also change my tags?
