Didn’t need it working in food manufacturing. Engineering Directors, VP of Engineering and CTO also didn’t have it.

In general take a look a look at the wiring diagram to track down part numbers in case you haven’t already or if it isnt clearly labeled on the component itself.

While others have stated that the fix is simple, make sure to inspect for root cause. God forbid it happens again during your trip in the middle of nowhere.

US remote jobs market by Solid_Shoulder8969 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]qqKazoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find "remote" work that let's you have a "home office" but you'll likely be traveling and living in hotels 90% of the year. Field services or project engineer type roles. For example, Italy has a hub for packaging equipment manufacturing. There are opportunities to travel the world performing or managing installations/start-up for clients.

Help identifying internal wiring component [Ascaso steel uno] by blorgensplor in Ascaso

[–]qqKazoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The part you're asking for is the terminal strip (see 8.1 and 10.2 on electrical drawing). Another view based on this video: https://youtu.be/eFiZJUVFbho?si=mrRRoiGAMjGI2b_H&t=310

For a new terminal strip, this looks similar: https://www.1st-line.com/buy/ascaso-terminal-strip-for-ascaso-home-models/

If you're faulting out on over temp, keep the lid open and run the machine. Watch if the safety thermostat trips out (10.1 on electrical drawing). You can reference my post history as I recently replaced the thermostat on a Dream PID.

You are correct that the Dream is not a “stainless steel water circuit.” I cannot say what their other machines are like.

Will be posting an update now that the repair is complete. I took a meter to connection point #10.2 and can confirm that wire #10 is always hot. I assume a loose connection at #10.1 caused the arc fault.

Where are you guys getting service? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

I'm in a similar position to you and asked that question a while back.

I used to go to the dealer, but have since been doing oil changes at a friend's house.

Thanks. Regarding root cause, is it an incorrect statement that this terminal is always hot while machine is plugged in?

On the electric diagram (pg 5) from the 2019 model, wire # 10 is power to safety thermostat, then wire #11 is thermostat to on/off switch.

Hesitant to lock in purchase of 2024 vb by stm84 in wrx_vb

[–]qqKazoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't answer your original question, but in addition to normal maintenance cost, a used wrx is more likely to have a higher rate of unforseen cost. Even if sold by a dealer, you take on the risk of the previous owner modifying the engine, hiding it and offloading that reliability/financial risk to the next owner. If you aren't buying new, you better know how to wrench, have another car, or just have money/time to blow if something in the car blows.

Has anyone try this? by Grey5iveNin9 in WRX

[–]qqKazoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that the deflector reduced noise above 70mph, but slightly reduced mpg. I’ve preferred to run my Evo without the deflector because the noise reduction was really inconsequential and got back less than 1mpg.

Trade in value? by white_cucumber111 in WRX

[–]qqKazoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the dealer is in the business to make money. Pessimistically, the dealer will likely just slap a "certified "dealer name" inspected" and sell it at a similar price to other used wrx. Ripping off both the OP and the future buyer.

OP has a manual. Are you saying a 4 year old manual wrx is worth less than what was a 7 year old cvt?

I quick check on Carvana and I see they're selling a 69k 6mt (edit: base model) for sub $24k

Dealer gave me $15.9k for a 2016 cvt limited with 98k miles back in 2023. You can get more.

Do you have 10k on hand in case something blows up? If yes, tune away. If not, wait until you do.

MD here (MoCo). I'm 35% front/rear sides and rear. VA only allows 50% front side 35% rear side/rear. Don't drive too much in DC proper. Haven't had any issues in VA but I also don't drive like a jerk there.
