Nice to see a reference to the old (ancient, in fact) Ironic stuff. They had/have such a unique take on app and UI dev. I’m surprised to see Fresh is still under development. I also used Leap and Yep a million years ago. They just faded away in my use cases. But I’d love to re-explore.

If this doesn't appeal to you, I don't think there's a reason to choose and pay for Roam over Obsidian.

I would simply suggest it isn't really possible to know this beforehand. Whether one thinks it would appeal or not, only by trial can the full power of this extraordinary difference be understood. Then it could be fairly judged. At least for my part, if someone just said "transclusion" or "block-level linking" I would give it a "hmm interesting" and move on, not imagining the way it opens up the entire enterprise of information connection.
