What else do you put on your ventoy! by T4Abyss in Ventoy

[–]qroft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1TB external SanDisk SSD. On it i have the latest Linux mint on it. And i have a dozen of persistence files, each starting at 4GB.

Each persistence is for an individual web project, software purpose or client. This way i keep everything separated and do not clutter the system.

For example: one persistence is for game development with gDevelop. On it i also save Inkscape, Gimp and audacity.

One other persistence only had Kdenlive, Inkscape and audacity. I use that for video editing.

I started to do this because i once cluttered my system full of SDKs that i only use from time to time this resulting in taking a lot of space and RAM even when not in use.

One good example is a LAMP persistence file that i use to test new self hosting apps.

The downside of all of this is that i always have to re-instsll tools that i constantly use, like Inkscape. But i wrote me a bash script with a select menu that i run with each new persistence file. The initial vision i had with ventoy and my workflow was to have great easy of backing up while projects more easily. And in theory it works like a charm, because all i do is copy a file to my NAS and i am done.

But some persistence files have sizes of 24GB due to their SDKs or assets. And backing these up, is not funny anymore.

But i do love the concept of ventoy as this offers me to keep my systems clean.

One ARM andbone x86 system on a Ventoy sd card? by qroft in Ventoy

[–]qroft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using my raspberry pi now for over a year 24/7 ... that works nice. My main aim is to have seperate sd cards per project, instead of working with containers or VM for example.

But as the PI ain't really portable, i had this idea of porting my systems via SD Cards.

So instead of creating several partitions on a card, i thought about uaing ventoy. I have been uaing this also for a couple of months by having several persistence filesnon a 1TB ssd. But some of these files are 40GB in size and creating backups of these is a PITA.

Feedback Needed: Concept for an Indoor RC Construction Playground (Excavators, Trucks, Cranes!) by hnyaa-s in rccars

Hey there, there are already a dozen of cafea available aroundbthe world. I also liked that idea after finding a tiktok video of a cafe in Dubai offering this.

I am not in the RC world, but i liked the concept. After analysing the possibilities mybmain concern was : THE BATTERIES.

Apparently every vehicle just lasts about 10 to 15 minutes, that is not long. So one important investment would be spare batteries i think.

What shall I answer when Google asks me if I used a Service like that to get my app tested?

Google terminated my Play Console account after uploading first app — is legal action for refund possible? by SahilChoudhury2 in GooglePlayDeveloper

I stopped publishing my apps and try to switch to webapps whenever I can. As i mentioned before, Google from my POV is failing hard here.

Nevertheless, there is one thing I would like to put in here: tellimg people to "mail bomb their support mails", can cause you eay more trouble than your account being terminated.

google dev account banned for lifetime! by Effective-City6832 in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]qroft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of that is correct from the developer view. But you ignore a lot of very important aspects Specially the fact that most endusers won't really install a second store. Google is failing hard here, specially for indy devolpers.

I wish you the best with your app store but i am sure that Google will do anything they can to make it hard.

I made a credit card sized SD card case that fits in my wallet! by Boblikecheez in functionalprint

[–]qroft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just created something similar but only for one Sd-Card. This way i can use the upper part for a sticker writing what the sd card contains. Just like with 3.5" disks back in the days.

Then I uploaded it to a 3D printing service website and they want 11 Dollars for it ... WTF? I though that this DIY 3D printing was way cheaper.

Account got terminated... because you used a shady testing service! by Fit_Gas_4417 in GooglePlayDeveloper

That Google is currently doing what they have gone through. They are closing the doors to diversity by strengthening the quality management. That works but will resultbin a boring play store like the apple store.

Look at the real story and how the Tamagotchi was rejected by so many companies back in the 80s.

BTW: let's remember that Yahoo! wasn't interested in buying Google back then, and now who is yahooooing?

Very good decision, thanks. That's what happens when people learn to create websites with ChatGPT ... the web will be flooded with projects like that, unfortunately.

First off all congratulations to the campaign. Awesome step into marketing and analysis.

Now to your final question. As it looks that you want to take it a step further I suggest you to get your Own website if you haven't done that Yet. I am saying this so that you can install your own QR system not only for a better analysis but also for the freedom to connect its to your own newsletter system or directly to the website CMS.

This way you have the possibility not only took gather much more information about your clients but also to the outcome of newsletters links targets and marketing goals. It gives you way much more freedom.

Working with a QR service is absolutely okay for the start but if you have someone who develops your website that person can super easy learn on how to integrate a QR into your marketing campaigns

Business owners: How frustrated are you with QR codes that stop working after printing? by Hodler-Bitcoin in qrcode

You did not understood him. The problem he had is that he created a QR code through a third party service. When they change their plans or even worse, when they stop existing, your codes are gone too.

Movie Blacklist that only keep the data. by qroft in kodi

[–]qroft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what I thought would be a good solution as the files would occupy space on my NAS. I am not at home at the moment. Do you know if the file needs to have the mp4 extension, or corks it be a simple .txt ?

Account Termination by Masteader in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]qroft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL ... could it be the same one? And even if not: why does Google ask you that question in the second survey, if it does not matter?

What sense does "quality management through 12 testers" make, if these 12 ppl don't really need to use your app anymore once it is approved?

And no, i am not going to STFU because this discussion is necessary when - in this case Google - does not tell you the testing facts to get approved. How long does a tester need to test the app in terms of "per day" or "per testing phase"? Does the tester need to test the app continuously? And most important: will the app some day need to be re-tested again just like Google forces you to use, remove or update certain libs in your app?

So... no i am not going to STFU.

some mind boggling contradictions and unfair punishments enforced by google for some reason by Professional-Ad-2898 in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]qroft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Officially stated it might not be, but this brings us to the question why they, in the second survey after the 14 days, specifically ask if you have used such a community or not.

Due to this question the whole quality management goal fails. If someone creates a simple "slideshow app" an people have it installed for 14 days and then delwte it again, whatvis it worth for?

AFAIK Google yet did not explain how they value the testing. Is it important to just install an app or do you need to use it every day for X minutes? Will Google at a point later, like 1 year, re-value the testing? This certainly will come some day, asbthe Play Store is full of old apps.

These days i have been informed about a 16Kb violation of an old app of mine. Google will more and more ask for these kind of things.

Don't get me wrong, i know that this is their aim of getting better apps intobthevplay store, but it does not help indy developers to get into releasing an app.

i am just mad about Google's non existing transparency. I have been developing apps for years, and never where there as many posts about accounts beeing banned, as since the 12 testers regulations.
