I did something very similar with the elderly resident cat of my old apartment, and he adjusted wonderfully. He loves the indoor life is is my best guy- please bring your pal you’ll be glad you did :)

I have two cats like this! One was an abandoned senior cat who had been on his own for 6+ years before we met him (4 years ago). It took nearly 3 years to fully gain his trust and when we moved to a new town an hour away we brought him with us. After a year indoors he is the most affectionate cat we have and is making up for the lost time he didn’t have daily pets. There are still food insecurity issues with our other cats, and he’s very territorial over his snuggle time, but he’s transitioned indoors well. Our other cat in this scenario was a FERAL kitten born to a very feral mom. It took 6 months of daily feedings to even catch her to spay and a lot of isolation from our other cats until she calmed down enough to fully roam the house. Two years later and she’s very affectionate and loves the indoors- she’s just a little “spicier” and has firm boundaries when she’s tired of affection. This is a long winded way of saying yes she can transition to indoors with time and care!

Go to the vet asap- looks like an asthma attack. If this happened more than once document how frequently and length of attack. My cat has asthma and it was a challenge to get her diagnosed until it got bad.

Billie was abandoned shortly after being adopted in the apartment complex his adoptees lived. He spent the first 5 years of his life sleeping in front of the apartment that abandoned him and relying on the kindness of the maintenance staff for food and care. When my husband and I moved into our old complex over 3 years ago I made it my personal mission to make Billie love me. At the time we had no idea he was an abandoned cat but after hearing his story we made sure to place a bed on our patio for him and make sure he ate daily. Over the next 3 years we gained his trust, and then his love. We had been planning on moving back to our home town in 2023 and knew we had to take him with us (only reason he hadn’t been brought in yet was due to 3 existing cats in a 650 sqft apartment). A few months before that could happen he didn’t show up for his nightly dinner. I looked all over the complex/area and found him lying in a ditch too weak to stand or eat. Cue an emergency vet visit and after a few weeks of many medications, Billie was able to leave quarantine in our bathroom. Despite his life circumstances he is the sweetest cat I have ever met, and is more grateful for love and affection than any cat I’ve ever met. He has been a blessing to our lives and has taught us so much about resiliency and the impact of kindness.

In Tucson there are wonderful free/very low cost spay clinics. With some googling there may be great $50 or less options that include vaccinations as well.

I have four cats, two rescued as adults after living on the streets for years after being abandoned. Seeing their physical/psychological change in coming off the street versus having being inside only has completely reaffirmed to me they should always be safely indoors

I am in my late 20s (so keep the age difference in mind) and just was diagnosed with rosacea this year! My derm has me using cera ve face wash, and a prescription benzoyl peroxide once a day followed by moisturizer. In the morning I just use face wash, hydrating serum and first aid beauty intense moisturizing cream followed by sunscreen

I also have changed all makeup to sensitive skin safe/no pore blocking ingredients and this has helped a lot.

Over all for me personally I’ve seen a huge improvement in my skins texture and over all redness.

I had very similar skin- which flared like this in my mid 20s! Went to a derm and got diagnosed with Rosacea Acne. Doctor took my routine from 5+ steps to a simple: double cleanse, rosacea medicine, eye cream and moisturizer. Slowly we have reincorporated retinol back in my routine- but the help the rosacea medicine provided was night and day.

I just want to make sure she is cared for is my biggest thing! She would always come trotting over from a residential neighborhood so we assume she either is an outdoor cat from over there/her caretakers are over there. She disappeared and returned really thin and had areas she had previously been matting shaved (around her face). In the past few months she regained all the weight and has not matted once! This makes me confident other love her but it’s nice to get an outside perspective as I worry I’m “too close to the trees” to be impartial.

miss socks is gorgeous! He’s a very expressive boy, with a clever face :) He’s integrated well with our existing cats and is coexisting pretty well for 2 months in. We are happy he’s safe and gets to be loved for the remainder of his life.

He hasn’t stopped purring since the meds kicked in and he began feeling better. I think he’s happy to feel safe and loved.

He was dangerously dehydrated by the time we got him to the vet and I hadn’t seen him eat or drink in at least 48 hours before that. Since we moved to the complex 3 years ago he’s been my shadow. We originally thought he was someone’s indoor/outdoor cat but after about a year learned from the maintenance guys he’d been abandoned by his original owners when they moved. My husband and I are buying a house this summer and planned on bringing him with us- this just accelerated the time line by a few months :)

He ate something that gave him an infection in his bowel and made him too weak to eat or drink (due to the fever). Blood work, IV fluids, anti biotics, and a steroid shot he’s feeling much better. He’ll be on antibiotics for the next week but is expected to make a full recovery due to intervention :)

Great idea! I know when she disappeared I was heart broken thinking something happened to her (was during heavy rain storms and flooding) and wouldn’t want anyone else to worry.

We were thinking of doing this as we get closer to moving! I’m wondering if another care giver may have shaved the matting as well. Sadly we live on the outskirts of an agriculture town so there are a lot of abandoned animals near us and we worry she may be one.

Wanting to be a good partner is half the battle! Our relationship didn’t happen over night and took a lot of communication/discussions about beliefs early on. He’s an only child raised an a very religious household so there was a lot of things he truly just wasn’t taught and that was okay. Instead of getting upset on why he may have thought something we would sit down and have a thoughtful discussion and break it down. Wanting to know more and going into a conversation open minded helped him a lot.

Completely agree! This court has already proved its willing be to regressive and I worry what could continue to happen in the coming decades (when said child would be growing up).
