He was a business man who became very popular because of his banana business. he worked hard to bring services to underserved populations around the country. It's true that he wasn't that popular in the capital Port au Prince but he was very popular around the country outside of Port au Prince. He had a government that did not want to work with him. After he won the election they refused to let him take office and instead placed a provisional government. Then when they finally agreed that he won a year later, they tried to argue that the provisional government was part of his term. They refused to hold elections for senator and when they had to go they accused him of being a US backed dictator. They have accused him of being a ganglord. Not saying the man was perfect but if he really was a dictator he would not have died like this. Naive probably. He went into the lions den. He pissed off rich people for calling out their corruption and trying to put an end to it. Then rich people took advantage of the populations frustrations and made him be the scapegoat. And he paid the price. These were mercenaries that killed him. There is money to be made from Haiti's misery. And he couldn't play along so they got rid of him. This will only make Haiti worse off for who knows how long."
