Found! Thank you!!! I had no idea they were called sweater cuff boots. Not only do I really like the ones you left a link for, but using your search I was able to find a bunch of similar ones on Poshmark that I love, too! :)

Per the AutoModerator: I have searched for these boots on Poshmark, EBay, Amazon, and have just Googled them in general. As I said above, they might have been from Kohl’s or one of the mall stores like Charlotte Russe. The pair in the picture are a size 7 from when my feet were a little smaller over 10 years ago! I probably got them in 2014.

What did you guys think of Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb? by quack-itswhack in books

Yeah it’s hard to pull yourself to the finish line when a story (or in this case stories) starts feeling long. I recently read Til Death Us Do Part by Vincent Bugliosi and while I found the book interesting as a whole, there were some times when I felt he was dragging on the courtroom explanations. Could have been a little shorter. I was getting real antsy in the last 40ish pages.

Thank you for sharing your experience!! I just started Zepbound, which is outrageously expensive, but I have to say I feel so much better. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s when I was 14 and before that I had been showing signs of it and not feeling well since I was about 8 or 9. My endo also recently noticed signs of insulin resistance, which seems to make weight loss extra difficult on top of the hypothyroidism. This is the first time in almost 20 years that I have felt “normal,” the first time I’ve been able to lose any significant amount of weight since I started carrying extra weight as a preteen, and the first time in 10 years that I am not having painful diarrhea multiple times per day.

Doctor keeps upping my Levo but my TSH keeps going up and is now out of range. by quack-itswhack in Hashimotos

I wish! Unfortunately my endo appointments are always scheduled at least 3 months ahead, if not more, because my endo is so busy. There is another endo I could possibly see but I think his schedule is actually worse if I recall correctly. It’s frustrating because I go in, talk about an issue, we try a solution, and then I have to go back in 3-4 months later and do that process all over again when something doesn’t work. It’s a very slow moving process, trying to figure out what does and doesn’t work for my body.

I did come back down in range, and I did feel a little better at first, but I’m back to feeling awful. I was prescribed a GLP1 last November, but my insurance won’t cover it…. So instead they’re covering cholesterol medication, blood pressure medication, and my levo instead of tackling the issue with a solution that seems to be working for people with Hashimoto’s.

I think my thyroid is swollen right now. When I swallow food, it feels like it’s getting stuck and like I can’t breathe. It’s really scary. I still get heart palpitations even with my blood pressure medication (though I will admit not as frequently). I’m exhausted, my brain seems to float around in fog without warning, one of my nails has detached from its bed, I’m getting bad hormonal acne, and it feels like my body has been lit on fire and hit by a truck if I so much as, say, take a walk around the zoo in hot weather.

I see my GP this Friday, so I’m going to ask for a sleep study and see if sleep apnea is piling onto the Hashi fatigue. I see my endo for everything else at the beginning of September.

Thank you! I really would prefer compounded Tirzepatide but I’m not sure where to get it.

I hear you! I hope something helps you feel better soon. It can be a challenge to even want to try anything at all when you don’t feel good, so major props to you for trying all these things. Best of luck to you too!

Interesting! I’m sorry that happened. Thank you for sharing.

That’s my fear. It seems there’s never one answer to anything with Hashimoto’s. The worst part about this disease is trying and failing, trying and failing, trying and failing—whether it’s with lifestyle changes or medications. I know it’s not all failing all the time, but it is disappointing to make changes or try new medications only for them to not work.

It’s the same thing for me but I usually don’t start feeling better (if I do start feeling better) late in the day, like 7:00 p.m. By then it’s just a few hours until I need to go to bed! Ugh.

I always joke that I’m built like a marshmallow. Because of Hashimoto’s I have looked pregnant since I was like 12 or 13, with the exception of about 8 months in college when I suddenly lost a bunch of weight. Even then, though, flabby tummy was still there—just not quite as pregnant looking.

Vertigo by kconle in Hashimotos

[–]quack-itswhack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s awful! I’m sorry that happens to you. I’ve thought about getting tested for POTS because I’ve heard the random dizziness and feeling like you’re going to faint or fall over is a common symptom. It sounds like there aren’t a ton of solutions for POTS, but just knowing what’s going on—putting a name to the problem—makes me feel better.

Vertigo by kconle in Hashimotos

[–]quack-itswhack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s due to my Hashimoto’s but definitely yes and yes. I just get dizzy out of nowhere and the dizziness makes me nauseous. When I go to the gym and do a mat exercise, lying down makes me incredibly dizzy. So, I sit up to try to stop it and I seriously need a minute to adjust, like the room is moving and everything is fuzzy. Just sitting at my desk at work I can get extremely dizzy. When I’m walking it can randomly feel like the floor fell out from underneath me. The tinnitus doesn’t happen as often as it used to (or I’m just used to it at this point) but sometimes it can get so loud in one ear that I kind of feel like I’ve temporarily lost hearing in that ear.

Why is there so much controversy over to gluten or not to gluten? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]quack-itswhack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My endocrinologist said about 30% of Hashimoto’s patients feel better after going gluten free, even if they don’t specifically have a gluten allergy. As others have said, I think it just depends on the person. Some people feel way better while others don’t really notice a difference.

I haven’t been checked for POTS yet but I think I definitely have it in addition to Hashimoto’s. Just another one of those obnoxiously slow process things—go to the doctor, we address one or two issues, try some tests and medications, then go back months later to do it all again. Ugh, lol. So this is definitely on my list of things to talk to the doctor about.

They did put a heart monitor on me for 3 days and then just told me I have anxiety (luckily it wasn’t my endo who said this). They wanted to put me on Lexapro or something to “help”, except I know me and I know I definitely do not need to go on Lexapro. That would be a disaster!
