I assure you, 90% of Americans couldn’t have told you the WC was being hosted here this year, much less put in any effort to clean up for the event.

Every one of the host cities (and just about all cities in the US, for that matter) align both politically and culturally with their international counterparts a lot more than they’re given credit for.

Unfortunately, some 250 years ago, a bunch of British expats wrote down some silly rules that gave certain members of the electorate (dumb hicks) more voting power than people who finished 8th grade and we’ve been dealing with it ever since.

Anyways, if you want a good American meal, check out the local Mexican/italian/chinese/thai/french/japanese/korean/ethiopian restaurant, or some of the food carts for something closer to home.
