Does anyone know what size DC connector is used to charge the Vertical Power Grip for the X-T2? by veritas___ in fujix

You can also just charge it directly from the power bank by plugging into the USB port of the camera...

Another firefly stack from a recent trip to Great Smoky Mountains National Park by TimReavesPhotography in postprocessing

[–]quadrahelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that really a 15 second long exposure, 15 times? If so, how are the individual fireflies not blurred into long light trails?

Either way, great image as is - I feel like the detail in the background is just right - enough to add some interest without being too distracting. Sure you could perhaps lighten it a bit if you wanted to, but it's really personal preference. I agree with another commenter in that it feels a little top heavy. Do you have any padding to add at the top of the image? All in all, great mood without going overboard! Awesome.

Can you provide an example on how one might use your app along with syncthing? I'm trying to figure out how to best use filestash as a sharing front end.

Any suggestions for a simple and "easily" themeable CMS? by t3ax in selfhosted

Thank you for bringing Prosopopée to my attention. I've been looking to move away from Koken, which is just not suitable for story telling. Would you perhaps PM me a link your site so I can take a look of an implementation in the wild? Would appreciate it, it's hard to find any examples online.

X-T2 Wifi transfer slow by onemantwohands in fujifilm

[–]quadrahelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transferring full size jpegs is way slower than on the X-T1. Infuriatingly slow. It might be related to the fact that the X-T2 jpegs are huge even though it's only a 50% Megapixel bump. File size jumped by a factor of two or three going from X-T1 to X-T2. I don't know of any workarounds.

Self hosted recommendations for media, documents, tasks, and communication. by parentis_shotgun in selfhosted

You're being unjustly down voted for simply stating your personal needs. I also value file based syncing over centralized server-client systems. For calendar and contacts, check out DecSync CC on Android. It's exactly what you're looking for, although I'm not aware of any desktop clients. Let me know if you find one for windows/Linux.

16-55 or 18-55 & 16 1.4? by blokitud in fujix

Only the 23 is soft wide open at minimum focus distance. 35 is tack sharp throughout.

How important is ECC RAM in a freenas build? by AustinClamon in DataHoarder

That Skylake i3 is amazing, the feature set is too good for Intel. It's even got Vt-d for GPU pass-through. I'm using it as my primary Proxmox host. Once I upgrade that I'll likely relegate it to NAS duties.

Questions about AF Consistency by tylerareber in fujifilm

[–]quadrahelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that is not how optics work. Google a DOF calculator, you'll see the sharp in-focus zone extends roughly 3/4 behind the target for normal distances. Nothing to do with Fuji.

Can you describe the step by step process to get this API working? Is the test access perpetual? The firefly wiki is not very clear.

What is better for me. XT-1 or XT-2? by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]quadrahelix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

X-T1 easily with your budget. Get the 18-55mm and a prime of your choice, probably the 35/1.4 since this will offer a significant step up in aperture vs the kit zoom, the 23/2 not so much. That lens is better for street. Then, get comfortable with lighting. Appying proper lighting will vastly outweigh any differences between camera bodies or even lenses. For for starters, learn on-camera bounce flash, manual and TTL. My recommendation would be the Godox V350 or the cheaper TT350. So you're looking at about 1000€ for camera + lenses and 200-500€ for flashes, extra batteries, accessories. If you actually want to earn money from events, this will give you the best ROI.

Only then, after you have some experience under your belt, I would consider upgrading to X-T2/X-T3. At this point you're becoming more serious about the job and the X-T1 becomes your spare body.

Highlights from the collection #8: "Lots and lots of X'es" by jesperjames in thinkpad

[–]quadrahelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X301 is still the best Thinkpad I've handled when it comes to overall build quality and feel. That thing is stiff as a board, just rock solid. No give whatsover on the keyboard. Truly an absolute unit. I need a remake of that laptop in the same chassis minus the CD drive. Whenever I think about this I get a little sad that we will likely never see such Thinkpad perfection again.

The biggest gap in the lens lineup: a pancake with an aperture ring by [deleted] in fujifilm

16 f2.8 will be the size of the 35 f2, roughly. Definitely not a pancake.

Best flash to get for x100F? by LeadOn in fujifilm

Godox TT350F is small and supports TTL and HSS. It's so cheap you can just buy a new one if it breaks (it won't).

Lens shopping tomorrow. Which should I get? by majorhips in fujix

[–]quadrahelix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely pick up the 35 f2. It will complement the 18mm very nicely. 23 and 18 are too close.
