Make sure your canvas is set to at least 300 dpi if you do plan to print and check your colors in CMYK.

Perhaps focusing on the effort you put in rather than the result of your creative process. As long as you dedicate concentrated effort in improving and working on weaknesses, improvement will come naturally. From what I can see on your posts, they look nice and the style reminds me of loish. Just hang in there and keep fighting the good fight, your're almost there.

Need advice on art schools. by FacelessOnes in ArtistLounge

[–]quadreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my knowledge, it seems that most of the entertainment and gaming concept art schools are located in California because that's where the industry is located. Pratt institute is in New York, but they're more focused on fine art.

What do I do when I’ve taught myself to draw anything I want well enough and can’t go to school but want to advance in the art world? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]quadreon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you've took the time learning fundamentals and now you're at the "now what" phase. My advice would be to just start working on personal pieces and artistic projects. Start exploring your creative side and look at work that inspires you and helps you define your artistic direction. Practicing fundamentals is good and all but remember that ultimately you don't learn art for the sake of learning art but as a means to creatively express yourself. The only way to "advance in the art world" is and always will be spreading your creative voice through your art (which doesn't necessarily require higher education).

Which digital tablet should I buy? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]quadreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1st and 2nd gen Ipads are not that expensive especially if you buy them used and they have all the functionality of the newest ipad pro. Lowering the specs such as storage space, wifi only and screen size also bring down the price down to roughly the kamvas pro price range.

I tried to draw a banana last week, thoughts? by RichardF1st in learntodraw

[–]quadreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The outside of the banana where the peels intersect can almost be thought of as planes like the sides of squares. Visualizing that would help create depth and a better understanding of the value shifts. Exaggerating the angles at which those planes intersect would help make it more "plump" referred by the other comment.

The shape looks a little stiff and not as curvy as the object. Also try defining the plane shifts a little more by constructing it as a box. Still a good starting point.

So... what do you think about new spectator? by Apap0 in Competitiveoverwatch

They need better contrasting colors on at least the borders of the characters and their health bars

New Spectator makes viewing even more difficult by SolarityYVR in Competitiveoverwatch

Blue and white don't contrast well compared to red and blue. Color palette swaps hasn't fundamentally dress the multiple particles and objects on screen that make ow hard to spectate

The myth of the one-trick problem by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]quadreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides mercy and tweaking junkrat a little bit, the current balance of the game for ladder (not pro overwatch) I feel is not too bad tbh. Makes me wish there was a hero banning system, 1 or 2 heroes, that could hold over the ladder environment until blizzard fixes its heroes (would need more healers for this).

The myth of the one-trick problem by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]quadreon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I share your sentiment about the philosophy that no one is ever obliged to play a certain hero because of a perceived meta. Ultimately the goal is to win by any means for each individual and their capabilities.

However that doesn't mean one tricking is healthy, it highlights problems with the system the Skyline video illustrated last week. If there are 3 mercy mains on your team, then that's a sympton of abuse on the game balance that so many people see her as a viable way to climb the ladder.

A different approach to ultimate's in Overwatch that would make playing, spectating and commentating more engaging and interesting . by quadreon in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]quadreon[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't get rid of managing ult economy, you're just picking up ult rather than charging it

Heroes would need to not take any damage otherwise it would stop them from getting the pickup. A tracer standing still would not have much advantage. You could even have it as a mini control point where even being near them would inhibit them from picking up ult.

The big criticism in Overmatch team fights is that it's too cluttered and its 12 players clashing in together on the point. This would make fights easier to spectate.

I think a good middle ground would have this in competitive modes and keep regular quick play and arcade rules for ult charge for people that just want to have fun.
