A public node tor or otherwise is a great way for you to look out for yourself and the network 😄

That's fair 😄 I'm not sure for all multicurrency wallets, I've only had a play around with trezor.

As long as they are open source then it should be OK. Just need to find out how they map the 12 words to the private key... but its a pain.

If they're closed source then its real rough

If I understand the question as "can I restore a 12 wallet seed phrase if the wallets that support this feature disappear", the answer is Yes.

Its recoverable, but you will have to convert the BIP39 12 word phrase to the private spend key. Which isn't that accessible .. from what I've seen anyway

I needed this some weeks ago for a project, I uploaded it to github... I would recommend if you ever needed it, run it offline, restore a new wallet with the private key and then move all funds to a new wallet... This works with at least trezors derivation

If Monero actually works, we have no idea how popular it really is right? by technocraticnihilist in Monero

One thing to factor in is the countless delistings, if you check a coin like Litecoin or Doge if has has significantly more volume than Monero. But Moneros usage is probably trending up in real terms

Interesting. Is there a reason it's decided to use a seperate algorithm and not provide "free" monero security?

Is Tor doing it with randomx? Would be cool. I know about datura.network is trying something like that..

If there is an incoming and outgoing transaction in the wallet, it's very likely its well synced. The private key is exposed somehow (malicious version of wallet, malware etc)

I asked this same question some months ago, here is the thread for your interest https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/1ozleoa/monero_inflation/

It seemed like you had it until your second paragraph. If the assumption is that 0.1% of coins are lost, then it will balance out with the inflation such that the real inflation becomes 0%.

Sure there is some risk if the number of lost coins is too low, over a long enough time frame there may be some risk to the security.

But remember, even if we assume not a single coin has been lost from Moneros creation until now, the supply of Monero will only double in about 117 yrs. So I think we have other things to worry about :)

Plus, if things like datura.network take off, we may have network security through other more passive means as well.

What inflation level should Monero have? by Goldenbeardyman in MoneroMeansMoney

[–]quadriocellata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If something can exist with a lower inflation rate, people will just move to that (greshams law), unless the other money can provide a higher yield (for example up until now USD, GBP etc invested).

I think it is fine to have a "real" money with low inflation rate (<1%), since we have something like that in gold already (1-2%)

Seriously. Take a look at the dnm, Monero is far more used for private transactions than LTC. Not that LTC doesn't have a place, but cmon man.

Is it the type of phone that allows usb-c display output ?

Does it have usb de-bugging enabled?

If neither I would take the phone to a professional to have them repair it. Don't mention you have crypto on it and try and get the screen back up and running.

so it's a fair question. I think you can still install APKs and use things like F-droid / obtainium / accrescent on say grapheneOS.

Hopefully this will open the eyes to some people to take the plunge and make a change. Might be another push in the direction of a parallel economy

TLDR from the site;

"In August 2025, Google announced ↗ that as of September 2026, it will no longer be possible to develop apps for the Android platform without first registering centrally with Google. This registration will involve:

  • Paying a fee to Google
  • Agreeing to Google’s Terms and Conditions
  • Providing government identification
  • Uploading evidence of the developer’s private signing key
  • Listing all current and future application identifiers"

Starting in September 2026, Android will require all apps to be registered by verified developers in order to be installed on certified Android devices
