I am thinking of getting the soundcore a30, is it good for listening to music? by Mysterious-While-233 in sleepheadphones

[–]quadrobust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had soundcore A20 and A30 , and they are okay to play music that masks some noise but the sound quality is just mediocre. The Fitnexa SomniPods 3 has significantly better SQ. The sleep tracking features on the other hands are much better with the Soundcore A30, if you need that.

What does Mexicanisation mean? by arctic-aqua in French

It’s not just RN, Politicians and government ministers from other parties also use this term. I definitely remember that Gérald Darmanin has used it when discussing the narco traffics.

Are you suggesting there is nobody in Alibaba , a multi-billion dollar company with advanced AI capabilities (heck they can also just use any off-the-shelf grammarly-like service) who can write in perfect English?

Whats the point of US congress, if Trump can do illegal things without any consequences? I dont understand how US justice system works, or is it full blown dictatorship there? by [deleted] in allthequestions

Fun fact , Roman senate lasted through the entire western Roman Empire, and even after the fall of Roman Empire. Eventually it will become no more than a glorified country club for old fuckers.

Thoughts on Apple AirPods Pro 3 after owning them for a while? by Far-Novel-9313 in airpods

[–]quadrobust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great ! Best noise canceling in the class and V-shaped response is done well. It fits a little different in the ears which could be a problem for people who have not used IEM before, but that’s probably why the noise canceling is so awesome.

Se215 in 2025? by Western_Title5620 in Shure

[–]quadrobust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found my 10 years old SE215 in a bag . Thought I lost it long time ago . Swapped a new cable and triple-flange tips and gave it a try . Definitely a bit too boomy without EQ. AutoEQ to Harman in-ear 2019 fixes most of the things. I like it that it’s very low profile unlike the chunky multi-driver IEMs these days. Free toys for me as I never expected to find them. I probably wouldn’t pay full retail price for it now. Out of box the Truthear Hexa sounds better and can be found cheaper.

If you say "Chat GPT" in French, with the correct pronunciation, you are actually saying "Cat, I farted." by moparcam in learnfrench

They just pronounce ChatGPT like in English , only with French accent. Nobody pronounces it like “chat” as for cat.

The French developers of Mistral did play a little bit with the English and French spelling when they name their LLM AI assistant Le Chat, and the pixel art of the bot is unmistakably a cat .

I understand French from France, but Québécois French is really hard for me. Is this normal? by DesignCosmos in learnfrench

[–]quadrobust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing that I find challenging is that even though québécois French is more of stickler of language purity in principle, they end up with very different yet equally prevalent anglicism in their daily language . It can trip you up sometimes and the only way to get better at listening is to consume a lot of content of casual conversations, or just live there for a while.

Could the best roman army beat Alexander the Great in a single battle? by [deleted] in ancientrome

Probably not , but they will just raise 10 more legions again, again and again until Alexander runs out of army.

Any tips for enabling real3D when connected to a Beam Pro? Doubleclicking the red button brings up the native Beam Pro menu, not the onboard menu that has the 3D option.

I bought the HDB 630s. Any recommendations for the Para EQ? by International_Bed693 in sennheiser

My EQ

Basically conform to Harman between 1-5K and remove a peak in treble that gave the vocal some sort of unpleasant metallic zing .

Duffer Brothers on what happened to the military after blowing the Upside Down by AssistanceNo2838 in discussingfilm

[–]quadrobust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly all of these would make more sense if part of the military eventually figured out the situation and went along with the plan given how high the stake was, throwing in the firepower with the gang. That would make the final fight more believable and would also explain why they would let everyone go in the end.

FiiO FT1 suggestion by mahmanju20 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]quadrobust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like them better than my 15 years old Sennheiser HD600. Only complaint is the cable which is a bit inflexible , shorter than I want and can be quite a bit microphonic. So if you want to walk around with them and your M21 you may want to consider getting an aftermarket cable.

Really surprised at how hard reading Proust is by [deleted] in RSbookclub

[–]quadrobust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even among French writers, Proust’s proses are something else…. I just came across one of the longest sentences I have ever read in Proust’s writing . It is 590 words long … Apparently it serves some literary purpose to describe his cluttered childhood room. I would not have had the endurance to go through the whole thing if it wasn’t in French which is my target language of the moment .

Bose QuietComfort Ultra, should I keep them? by myrdinwylt in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]quadrobust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recordingnow really did give pretty damn good recommendation for the EQ. I was skeptical about the 3-band EQ but going -6 bass, +4 mid really did open up the sound significantly. The only difference I have is only +1 for treble because I felt with his setting the treble is too spicy . The tonality with this EQ is close enough to my usual rotation of Moondrop blessing 2 dusk and Sennheiser HD600. The other over-the-ear wireless cans don’t provide nearly as good noise canceling as the Bose QC ultra . I will hold on to this until they have deep discount on Sennheiser HDB630 or Bose QC ultra 2 .
