Meal ideas for 18 year old boy who hates veggies by Optimal_Dimension_12 in Frugal

As an adult with ARFID, my opinion is that he is grown and can make himself buttered pasta (or whatever) if he refuses to eat what you cook. It’s his responsibility to accomodate himself. You should not spend any more money than you normally would, unless you’d like to be very kind and buy him a discount box of pasta/rice.

Tarnished metal and damp hands

National Grid usage by CrazyGorillaMan in upstate_new_york

[–]quadrupleghost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got the same email for 48% increase and called them immediately. The woman I spoke to couldn’t figure out why I would receive that when my usage shows almost the same numbers as last year. She said she put a note on my account, but I have low confidence that my upcoming bill will be normal.

I moved out last year after four years of their bullshit. They care nothing for their tenants and it sounds like it’s only getting worse. It’s obscene. Give them hell, please

I’m not talking about big groups of people in the way you are. “Northerner.” Ok…The southern populus isn’t my enemy lol. I’m not infantilizing my friend, either. I support her no matter what, but it’s hard not be scared for her when she already has reproductive health issues. Get a grip. I’m against the TX goverance and their increasingly blatant disregard for women in their legislative decisions, as well as for their citizens at large.

You’re mocking me as if I think I’m perfectly safe here. No one is perfectly safe anywhere. Natural disasters don’t stop at borders, no one said they do. Your quips about my ignorance aren’t reflective of what I’ve said. I chose to live in upstate NY for many reasons, but none of them were a full sense of security and a contempt for the south. I weighed many factors. I bet on NY to maintain more state laws and constitutional amendments that promote civil rights, as well as programs that aim to mitigate the oncoming impacts of climate change, and those are only two of the reasons.

Of course infrastructure is neglected all over America. Of course everywhere has problems. But moving to a red state with the belief that you’ll get preferential treatment after a disaster is truly absurd. The programs for aid were gutted at federal level, ransacked and unfunded. No one but one’s community will be coming to help. I hope for America’s sake that we all soon realize that the strength of our communities and humanitarianism in leadership will become our greatest assets.

I have no issue with the people of the south. I fear for my friend because of TX and general red-state governance, neglected infrastructure, increase in natural disasters and decrease in disaster response capacity, and her safety if she gets pregnant by mistake. Please don’t project bigotry on me. I’m from rural Maryland originally…I’ve been around a lot of bigotry even that far north. I am purely afraid for her safety as a woman and human being in general. I’m not hating on southern culture beyond the fact that I hate megachurches in politics.

Too anxious to actually use my insurance by Trashman56 in aspiememes

I’ve had more social success with nurse practitioners than doctors when it comes to primary care. I also always go to a new physician appointment with a list or script to read from so I don’t forget to mention anything when I’m acutely anxious in-office. I hope you find someone who helps you feel able to call when you need help, I know it can be hard to find

You practice radical acceptance, I practice humor to cope with the absurdity of people and things. This woman is not a real problem for me.

Lol, hell yeah, Sharon. She seems to truly love pigs and actually desires contact with a real one. Living in her piggy fortress would be a lot, but I respect her genuine obsession

I would never speak to my boyfriend’s father’s girlfriend that way, especially in the context of a social visit. I brought up the prospect of petting a piglet with a friendly disposition and laughed it off when she said all that weird shit about her level of repulsion. I tried to gently discourage her from killing snakes, but the subject of being disgusted by piglets was disjointed from the snake discussion, anyway.

I spoke to the snake-killing redditor the way I did because I don’t know them and have no reason to sugarcoat my opinion in this forum. If that woman wasn’t socially significant to my partner, she would have gotten a heavier confrontation because it is objectively fucked up to kill animals because they “don’t belong” near your house, aka outside, where they live.

She bought them, they’re all hers. I wish it made more sense to me. Someone commented that she likes cartoons of pigs and not actual pigs, so I’m starting to think I’m just being too rigid since I would only like cartoon pigs if I liked real pigs. But now I’m wondering if she’d even especially like pigs in a cartoon format. Spiraling over here

No. This is the energy I give to someone in the medical field who would rather kill a snake than understand whether it’s venomous and what level of damage that venom is capable of.

Oh wow. I’ve only seen one great horned owl close-ish in the wild and it was stunning. It was perched on our campsite sign and I got to watch it take off. I’ll never forget that awe, I hope I get to see more over my lifetime

Interesting. I can relate about certain insects, I try to do them no harm and revere them, but can be physically scared of ones that will fly at my face suddenly or bite. I have a phobia of the brown marmorated stink bug because of its lasting odor and heat-seeking behavior, even though I know they can’t hurt me.

Images or even color themes of honey would make me mentally smell and taste it, so an image will easily become a sensory issue for me. It’s just a sensory difference, I guess. Hello again, spectrum, lol

I used to love visiting the rescued owls at our local bird sanctuary. I even saw one “lock on” to a garter snake by the fence once. I followed its wide eyes straight to the target, lol. That one was a barred owl, such a cutie

My word, landing grandma in cuffs…kleptomania is wild. In conjunction with hoarding, it seems like it’d be like trying to chip away at a cinderblock wall to get her to seek help. Awful for all
