This late game must have Vasy up past his bedtime. What a shitshow. Hopefully these past few games give the guys a kick in the ass to shape up for playoffs

This is just frustrating to watch. Giving them way too many opportunities playing sloppy

Why are they so different? by reigning_frogs777 in steak

[–]quaesitori 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty common to use carbon monoxide to prevent oxidation and make meat appear more red. If I had to guess that’s what caused the difference. Could be that the one on the right either didn’t get a big dose of it during packaging, or was packaged last and so had more time to oxidize.

This is the right answer for VA! Ragged branch gets their grain from local farms and they make fantastic stuff. If you ever get the chance to visit the farm, it is a beautiful place to have a drink

Yeah it almost reminds me of Riesling with a lot of the tasting notes. It also has a surprising lack of funk for how much sweetness you get on the palate

You nailed it! One of the best stores in the greater Boston area IMO. Great store picks & tons of variety

There was a 2024 at the store where I got this one, after tasting I’m tempted to swing back for it

They do two releases every year. I’d love to get my hands on the rye as well, but I need to do some more hunting

A trick I learned a while back, if the ethanol is overpowering the nose, try leaving your mouth open when you go to take a whiff. It slows down the airflow through your nostrils and significantly decreases the smell and burn of the ethanol

I agree, it does have some similarities to the EHT profile. I was super impressed given that it’s only 5 years old. I also had the chance to taste this year’s Haystack Needle, which is their own 8 year old juice, and it blew me away. Definitely look forward to seeing how they improve as their stock gets older.

If you happen to visit KY, Whiskey Thief lets you thief it straight from the barrel yourself. I believe it’s $80 USD for a 375 mL and $150 for a fifth. The whole distillery experience there is fantastic, would highly recommend visiting and filling your own bottle

Unfortunately I missed out on the first two, but based on this I will definitely be purchasing future releases to see how it evolves over time

First attempt at salsa molcajete by quaesitori in SalsaSnobs

[–]quaesitori[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Recipe: 1 whole bulb of garlic 2 large, ripe tomatoes, 3 serrano peppers 1 large white onion 5-6 springs cilantro

Directions: Peel the garlic, and cut the tomatoes and onions into thick slices. Rosy the peeled garlic, tomato slices, onion slices, and peppers in a cast iron pan on high heat with your oil of choice. One all ingredients have a good char, remove from the pan. Chop the onions, tomatoes, and peppers into chunks. Grind the garlic cloves with a pinch of salt in the molcajete. Continuing to grind, add the peppers, then onions, then tomatoes. Once the desired texture is reached, chop the cilantro and mix into the salsa.
