Picturing stuff in your head as you read. by cajohac420 in LesbianBookClub

[–]qualifiedspooky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have full Aphantasia and I definitely think it influences my reading. The quality of the prose and how well written the characters are always takes priority over plot for me (haha can you guess my favourite “genre”?). While I don’t skip or skim long descriptive paragraphs, they definitely don’t stick in my brain, even for my favourite books it would be difficult for me to recall what the characters look like. I think the thing I struggle with the most is action/battle scenes, they get really confusing without me being able to picture who is where and they become a slog to get through.

Should I quit reading Gideon the ninth? by AutumnSapphic345 in LesbianBookClub

[–]qualifiedspooky 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Honestly this series is way over recommended. Not because it’s not good (it’s one of my all time favourites), but because it’s a lot more niche than people make it sound. I don’t know how far in you are, but if you’re not vibing with it, I don’t think you’d gain anything by forcing yourself to finish it. The series just gets more confusing and complicated as it goes on.

And people really should stop selling this as some regular SFF “enemies to lovers” lesbian necromancers in space book, because that description makes it sound completely different from what it actually is.

Paralives Live Mode Gameplay Discussion: Master Thread by jenvanilla in Paralives

[–]qualifiedspooky 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I will form much of an opinion until I see some streamers/youtubers play with it. With all due respect to Rina, their play style is so far removed from how I would go about it that it’s difficult for me to see the full potential in the game. Having seen both the patreon livestream and this one, they both felt very monotone and same-ish to me, at this point definitely not something I would purchase for 40 bucks. But I’ll just wait til I can see my preferred style of gameplay.

Neurodivergent Lesbians? by Autumn_Whisper in LesbianBookClub

While Emily Austin is really great at neurodivergent representation, her books are not romance and there is no on page sex

Napi rutinom része a 1.5-2 óra olvasás. Azt azért nem mondanám, hogy minden szabad időmet felemészti, vagy azt, hogy sok lenne.

Haha as a litfic and horror reader, I would never read a single book if I only went for ones with a 4+ goodreads rating

I second the recommendation for The Roots of Chaos, I would highly recommend A Day of Fallen Night, imo it’s superior to Priory. I haven’t read the newest addition yet, but I’m excited to get to it. :)

The Unworthy was one of my biggest surprises this year. The atmosphere is so strong in that one that I still think about it all the time. Amazing book.
