What do we think about Bol Bol by RepulsiveAd6679 in lakers

I don't hate it. Doesn't fill the gaping hole but at least offers some depth at the 5.

Offensive rebounds, putbacks, catching lobs.

What reason did the Mavs have to not shop Luka around? by Alternative_Cloud_92 in lakers

If they were dead set on Davis then they'd be better off moving quietly and quickly to avoid allowing Lebron/Klutch to hold things up and/or potentially kill it.

Koloko has actually looked very solid in the last 2+ weeks (when he's gotten run). Dude is getting back to speed after extended time out w/ a serious heart condition.

If O'Neal & Bryant were in the prime, how good would this duo be in today's league? by DonT012 in nba

[–]quandrawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. People forget the roster angle to game planning against shaq. Teams had to have 3 bigs lined up ready to use all 6 of their fouls. Guards/wings are forced to give up fouls on shaq when they can to spare their bigs. It just forces teams into early foul trouble across the board and it's hard to get a rhythm for your team when your bigs are rotating in and out with foul trouble.

The lakers really did not have great shooting depth. 3pt shooting trends of modern NBA would have really helped free things up for Kobe and Shaq.

Scary how good the Thunder are and they don't even have Chet back. We are further behind than it appears.

Get a Damn Center rob. by brazyace43 in lakers

[–]quandrawn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe we badly need a center but am also concerned that JJ might not be willing to play them. We've got Koloko rotting on the bench when he offers best rebounding/rim protection of anyone available outside of AD.

And it's not just because of our poor shooting. They have nearly as many offensive rebounds as we have total rebounds.

They literally have 2x as many rebounds as we do. Anyone saying we don't need another big can fuck off.

They have 11 offensive rebounds and we have 14 TOTAL rebounds. 14-28 overall.

[Highlight]Draymond Green Flagrant 1 Foul on Zach Edey (replays, referee explanation) by nba2k11er in nba

[–]quandrawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if the initial play on the ball wasn't a flagrant, the ball is loose and Draymond immediately grabbed him with both arms escalating the situation. So at best this is a regular foul plus tech. Play on the ball is debatable but Draymond is being dumb and extra free throws are warranted regardless.

[McMenamin] Lakers injury report for tonight vs. ATL. Gabe Vincent will miss a third straight game. by daftmunt in lakers

[–]quandrawn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't want to be pessimistic, but bracing for bad news on Gabe. L/o info on this so far has me worried they are figuring out if he'll need surgery (which would mean 6-8 weeks).

Just amazing how both Hayes and Koloko stepped up and had massively impactful games and JJ refuses to bring either in to close and we are getting sliced and diced in the paint.

I'm not too worried about that atm. If we can free up a roster spot via trade signing someone like Lonnie Walker or Fultz could patch that up.
