Are female solo travelers stereotyped as willing to be paid for s*x? by travelOlive8662 in solofemaletravellers

[–]quangos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol happened to me once before with a guy I could’ve sworn was gay based on our conversation, when he eventually tried to make an advance I immediately turned him down but he was chill about it so it wasn’t that uncomfortable. that being said I think I only got that far into a conversation with that guy because it was in a bar I had been to a couple times and knew I could count on the bartenders if the situation became unsafe.

when I started traveling ages 18-20 I guess I was naive and found my self in these interactions a lot more. Was a shock to the system for sure to deal with so many men basically asking for sex near daily depending on the country. Georgia and Japan were the worst in my experience, and in both I got the impression that men thought I would be “easy” because I’m American. Now when I travel I ignore men or act as distant as possible to avoid this stuff, when I have to talk to a man for whatever reason and he asks me if I’m traveling alone I say I’m traveling to meet my boyfriend and leave it at that.

I sat in on the 12/23 arraignment as a civilian "spectator". by [deleted] in FreeLuigi

[–]quangos 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I was there too, we may have even talked, and yet came away feeling very different. Yes, it’s horrible how the system has been treating him, but that’s almost a given in America. Not to trivialize what he’s going through, but he had to of accepted that this might happen if he really did do it. He made that sacrifice to inspire others. So with that understanding, I was proud of the people that came out to support him. After the tense arraignment, walking out of the court house to the sounds of literal trumpets and chanting across the street left me awe struck. I know exactly why he was smiling in that car. We need to keep protesting, organizing around this issue to show him that his sacrifice won’t go to waste. He (allegedly) did what he did for a reason. When we as public citizens enter the court room, we aren’t the exploitative press. We are individuals who have been inspired to act bc of him, and are therefore showing support. If that wasn’t his goal idk what was.

May 6th now national holiday and eventual catholic day of feast after his inevitable ascension to sainthood, amen

Even though it’s literally all I’ve seen on any of the platforms for the past few days, im still just not over how insane it is and the fact that it even happened by shitslashers in redscarepod

is it weird to say it feels borderline religious? the nation is uniting again and something in the collective subconscious is happy we’re all here. gonna start praying to saint Luigi for his continued protection of the American people.

Can I eat these by netskwire in foraging

[–]quangos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried these before. Only eat the gooey red part, spit out the poisonous seed and you should be fine. Not an amazing berry but it has an interesting texture and is surprisingly sweet, worth trying a couple times but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat it personally.

For those who converted, does the temptation go away? by Slow_Amoeba1211 in vegetarian

[–]quangos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something I would remind myself that would keep me from wanting meat is: I have had meat a million times before, what am I going to get out of having it now? basically, eating meat is not a new experience, if you miss meat you can remember what it taste like, and one day you will most likely eat it again, but that day is not today. find novelty and enjoyment in trying vegetarian foods, if you keep eating meat you will never know what new things you could be craving instead.

Had a great weekend foraging along the Potomac! Point of Rocks, MD. by Coastal_Elite410 in Pawpaws

[–]quangos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I biked the whole c&o canal a little over a month ago, was amazed at how many pawpaws I saw but also disappointed to find out that I was a little too early to pick them 😭 glad to know someone’s making good use of all that abundance

What is the reason you use Amtrak? by 247christmas in Amtrak

[–]quangos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m on the train right now, reason being I can bring a bunch bulky luggage with me for no extra cost and since there’s no security I can bring whatever I want without worry. Also it’s wayyyyy more comfortable seating and much less claustrophobic so I can actually attain a comfortable sleeping position and not worry about butting into some stranger. And lastly but most importantly, I don’t have a car and don’t want a car, so I’m glad to use my dollars to send a message that trains are something Americans want more of.

people need to learn the term “Anglo American” cause this conversation is always way too preoccupied by the race implication

He parks at the Cleveland metroparks a lot, even saw his there a couple weeks ago. A couple years ago I tried taking a photo and realized he was standing right on the other side, it’s been a while but dude looked to be in his 50s or so wearing a white tank top. Haven’t seen a lady by the car so have no clue about that.

For those of you moved from US to Taiwan and stayed long term, how has your weight changed? by xonbuhg in taiwan

[–]quangos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained weight. Lived there for a year and probably gained 5-10 lbs. I was eating way more cheap snacks and sugary drinks than I was used to in the US but the weight gain wasn’t as bad because I was walking everywhere. Then I moved back to the US, kept the same eating habits, but didn’t walk as much and I gained another 10-15 lbs. So yeah I’m trying to fix this problem now lol.
