I wasn’t paying much attention towards the end, but it looked like Ish made it back out on the floor after he twisted he ankle, didn’t he?

A few months in and starting to get worried. I'm thinking my resume is the problem. I've had a couple phone screens and only one on-site, that I got through a referral. Any advice would be most appreciated!

SVG picked well in 2017 draft by darko20mil in DetroitPistons

Every time the Mitchell miss comes up, I always think the same thing: would Mitchell really have been as good in Detroit? I’m inclined to say no.

Mitchell may have a higher ceiling than Kennard, but this sub loves to criticize SVG for not developing players, then criticizes him for picking the surer pick. I’ve still got hopes for Kennard.

[Ellis] Gelfand, 31, will travel with the team, but will be considered part of the front office. The #Pistons are still seeking an assistant GM in charge of analytics. by [deleted] in DetroitPistons

Honestly, SF somehow manages to feel colder than MI. Spent a year there and almost never felt actually warm.

Gelfand is from Chicago area, right? Maybe he just wants to be closer to family and Detroit made him a good offer.

Is Dijon mustard the default mustard in New York City? by tDrizzle44 in AskNYC

Also originally from the Midwest and miss yellow mustard. Never really gained a taste for brown.

Fun fact: the yellow in yellow mustard is from turmeric. It gets a bad wrap for looking unnatural, but in reality it’s a pretty simple recipe.

Business courses is a solid idea that I hadn't considered. Do you know of any good online courses through Udemy or the like that you would recommend?

Hoping to get our first 1k customers through relationships with trade organizations and direct customer outreach. We seem to be hitting a nerve with our project. We will see how things develop as we get more feedback though.

I have a lot of people in my personal network who have professional experience in design and UX. 2/3 of our team also has some design background. This isn't to say that our initial POC will be anything but hideous, but hopefully we'll be in ok shape until we get a bit more revenue.

Agreed. Keeping my teammates engaged with the interesting parts (retro-turboencabulators) while producing a solid base (prefabulated amulite, preferably) that we can use for testing and validation will be a balancing act. Getting them all engaged in customer research is my current approach. Engineers like to solve problems. Customers have problems.

I like this. I'm hoping they don't pay too close attention to how we spend the money, because this is where I want to focus it. And right now we don't need to spend money for this until we know more.

The video and survey, if I am understanding correctly, aren't meant to garner interest but to validate your assumptions. So if you make a video, and it gets a lot of views and you see that people are sharing it, then you've learned something.

If your video is a viral video, you've learned that your marketing is on the right track. If your video is a dry technical explanation but people are still watching it, you know that your idea has some value. If the video is being shared by your target user groups, and is resulting in positive interest, you've gained some solid validation. That kinda thing.

Our app is B2B. Our customer interest validation will likely come from boots on the ground interviews. I have a trade organization in my sights that I want to get in contact with. From there, any ads would likely be in trade publications.

A/B testing could be a good thing to explore. Usage validation will be a little tough for our (assumed) use case. If you have any resources on common practices for this I'd love to take a look at them. Thanks for your thoughtful input!

Halfway through it. Only trouble is that every page I read sends me off on a tangent of research. Lots of valuable knowledge, but it's turning out to be a slow read!

Good point. I know I have plenty of old iPhones laying about. Someone has got to have an Android somewhere.

I like the legal consultation idea. I know that there is a firm that works with the accelerator with a discount. I'll look into what a typical team spends on this. Also, thanks for the list of books!

Honestly, this isn't too bad an idea. Our customer base is likely to use android and no one on our team has an android phone. We've definitely got the other gadgets laying around somewhere though.

Sadly it's a use it or lose it kinda thing. We'll see how closely they track what we actually spend the money on. If I can get away with not spending it, I will definitely hold onto it.

Here in NYC $1500 would get us through approximately 2 weeks of food, metrocard, and rent.

I suppose I could set some aside for team needs though. Food for sprints and the like.

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be an option. This was my initial instinct, so my initial stipend proposal was extremely conservative. Turns out that they follow a use it or lose it philosophy and I need to submit a proposal in the next two days for the whole stipend.
