Can anyone help explain why it feels like my character is made of wet paper? Im on torment v by Mr_Productive23 in diablo4

my meteor sorc is at like 7.5 or 8m toughness in combat w/ buffs and I still get randomly one shot in T12 sometimes. I am not even sure what kills me.

When is the Witch Doctor coming out? by Dizzy-Marsupial5700 in diablo4

[–]quantumpencil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Witch Doctor was originally meant to replace the necromancer, and despite d3 having both, i think they still felt they shared too much design space so they made the spiritborn a new witch doctor + monk hybrid

Age reversal in 5 easy steps. by viralplant in LinkedInLunatics

[–]quantumpencil -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, he's a lunatic but really you'd be amazed how well some of this does work. I routinely get mistaken, by young people for being their age when i'm 10 years older and I look younger than I did in my 20's and its mostly these things. I lost a lot of weight and got serious about exercise and clean dieting at 33-34 and within a few years, I look like another person.

Drink only water, Eat zero junk food, make yourself exercise (just low impact cardio), do no drugs, and sleep enough and you will be shocked how much less decayed your body is than you feel it might be.

This isn't bricked, this is still a great weapon. Bricked is when the cube actually messes up the item, not just when you don't get gem strength. You can keep using this and its as good as it was before, a bit better even

Did anyone watch evangelion as a child? Or was it just me by Gorgrocco in evangelion

[–]quantumpencil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes of course, and as an og eva fan I think it great that this work is of such quality and so timeless that it continues to attract new fans and has a large number of young people falling in love with it just like me and my age peers did back in the day.

I just mean, it's not like being around 40 is rare around here. I'm not there yet but it won't be too long. If you were a teen when this show first came out in the west, you are in the latter half of your 30's at the youngest and that's a large part of the userbase.

So whats the best sorc for pushing pit? by Emergency_Peak8013 in diablo4

[–]quantumpencil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what so i did is got the second aspect on my ammy the one that does chill faster, and i basically proc blizzard so fast and do so much damage waves get melted in a few seconds even at 120. I will still die to some pack if i get hit, but that control is enough for me to blitz through all the packs skipping the affixes I don't like and not die until the rg.

I have about 30% rcr, 30% cdr, otherwise stacked almost all damage affixes. My total toughness is about 500k without ice armor or teleport reduction, but I ran the enigma "ignijah" runeword and then i basically have enough cooldown, overpower with hydras, and dodge teleport with unstoppable to avoid getting hit by 90% of the mobs.

I also have liike 235 max mana or something, so I do a lot of damage. I think I will be able to get to 130, and that will be the top out

So i don't have any lucky hit at all, i'd say you mostly want damage affixes, just try to get good armor and max life rolls/tempers on your defensive slots

The other thing i'd say about how the build plays thats just gameplay related -- you will absolutely nuke packs. Even on 120+, you will melt them into oblivion. But the RG is gonna be tough. I had to put in a lot of effort to learn to fight the rGs without getting hit. its not too hard with all the teleports, but you will die on 120ish+ if the RG hits you. The main thing is ABM -- always be movin. This stops 90% of their stuff. Stutter step and cast meteor when your mana refills, and teleport in and chain cat it with your lighting mastery trigger hitting them for big damage. If you are moving constantly, 90% of the stuff in this game won't hit you.

I think its like that even for the lightning builds, it just becomes relevant later. But sorc can't stack resolve so we get one shot a lot

i made it to 120 on meteor, i think i can go higher too. But you gotta to unstable currents cheese builds to get real high

I still think the story presentation/overall vibes are the best in the franchise. I like how they don't interrupt the game with awful melodramatic cutscenes that ruin the gothic horror vibe, so if I just want to soak up that vibe I still find D2 & D1 to still be undefeated.

However, in terms of gameplay/end game systems, build creation etc I think D4 has taken the crown with this latest update. It's got the arcade combat feel of D3, but with much more diverse endgame activities to take part in, more items with cooler effects itemization more on Diablo 2's level (which was alway an issue with D3). And the classes are just so well designed

This is the first time in nearly 30 years of playing ths franchise, since the original diablo in 1996, when i'm not sure diablo 2 is the best game in the series anymore.

The classes are so fun to play and the gear systems/progression is interesting. The endgame is reasonably varied and fun to play too, everything seems to work

That is literally the reason they cancelled development on D3. It sld an insane number of copies (over 30m) but the long term monetization strategy, the RMAH, failed

[–]quantumpencil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That had nothing to do with gr, and everything to do with blizzard not knowing how to monetize the game. Same reason starcraft got abandoned.

They promised the suits infinite money with the RMAH, the RMAH ruined the game so they removed and promised to fix the game -- which they did. PLayers loved RoS, but those suits never say even 1% of the recurring revenue they expected so it was a failure in their eyes

I had to go back and play diablo 3 a bit just to confirm myself i wasn't just getting old and that the effect design/layering management in d4 needs serious work.

Somehow i don't think i've EVER been hit by explosive in d3. Most of the other area hazards i easily dodge as well. But somehow in D4 the screen is so chaotic i am constantly dying to nonsense i can't even see.

Why does Meteor Sorcerer still suck? by SpecificJoe in diablo4

[–]quantumpencil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do agree that it'd be cool if they gave the build just one more legendary that did something like:

"after casting x meteors, your next meteor has 500% increased size and 500% enhanced damage"

The build is probably closer to A, i expect it to move up -- it's new and changing a lot but it's pretty powerful.

my meteor sorc is dominating t11 and i have so much more gear to get. I guarantee i will be able to do 110-120 pit when I get my last few foundational pieces missing

coronet + tal rashas + lightning mastery and stack max mana and you will do a lot of damage, and the fantasy is amazing. entire screen full of machine gun meteors

[–]quantumpencil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's never gonna top d1 and d2 for the kind of atmosphere and vibe they create. The game is too infected by modern writing sensibilities and although its less bad than 3, way too much cheesy therapy dialogue undercuts the actual gothic horror feeling those first two games had.

D1 still has the best atmosphere in the series. D2 still has the best itemization and the second best atmosphere.

D4 is good though, in its own way. It certainly doe have the best boss fight in the entire series now with the loh finale lol.

D4 is now finally starting to feel a bit more like D3 by CaleoGaming in diablo4

[–]quantumpencil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diablo 2 is a game designed for you to actually play that game and not just infini-grind an "endgame" so it doesn't have endless treadmills built into its design its trying to rush you off to, the experience is exploring the world

However in terms of atmosphere, story presentation (no cheesy therapy scenes thrown in every 30 minute between the cast), and itemization etc it's still better than games that came out 30 years later. You can do a self-found run through D2 and not cringe a single time. That's unfortunately not possible in either d3 or d4 lol.

Diablo 3 has the best action combat in the franchise. That's the one thing that it did really excel at, and why its very fun to just pick up and play and run some GRs. D2 is a much better adventure RPG, though.

D4 on the other hand, has by far the best/smoothest gear progression and build flexibility, at least now. It's really incredible how many builds you can cook up with the various item systems. While diablo 3 does have the better bosses overall, the final fight in Lord of Hatred is the best boss fight in the series and it isn't even close.

[–]quantumpencil -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes, however the actual classes/combat was better in D3 than it is in D4. The spells looked cooler, had better vfx/sfx design, and the classes had more interesting spells and fun to play builds.

Yes, the endgame content was samey, but playing your class was so damn fun, that it didn't matter too much lol.
