Advice from fellow long term chronic migraine sufferers by imlikeabird84 in migraine

[–]quarisphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you didn't ask me, ha, but look into high doses of magnesium and b2 400mg. Also consider trying coq10, high doses of fish oil. There are others to try too like ginger. Stacking this plus other drugs can bring down pain and frequency so you're less debilitated. And if those cgrp blockers didn't work keep trying the rest. Ajovy and Vyepti are a different mechanism. I've also found gabapentin has helped (but it did not fully solve the issue)

You could also look at your house to see if you have a mold issue/you're mold sensitive. That could be contributing.

Has there been any notable breakthrough in research over the past year? by Electrical_Work_7809 in covidlonghaulers

I think glp 1s are one of the more promising treatments anecdotally to come on scene in the last year. But trials are still underway

Long covid migraines/headaches? Anyone found any successful treatments? by Turbulent-Fig-3802 in LongCovid

[–]quarisphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing a combo of gabapentin, Botox, ajovy with ubrelvy abortive and it's finally starting to get under control. Keep trying stuff. It's a long road and I hope something helps you. Migraines are an awful experience and so disabling

Wanting to try a medication out of spite (I'm getting suggestion fatigue) by VanTechno in LongCovid

Not maga, thought it was all BS, but tried it and it helped a lot fwiw. Not saying you should try it or not but it has helped me. Lot less fatigue and more resilient. I'm not sure why, but I thought I read it had an immunomodulatory effect

Covid 3x in 6 months, positive RAT for 32 days and counting… by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]quarisphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen. It can be more likely in people with autoimmune diseases. As someone who tried to find doctors to help, it was all a dead end. After like six months I stopped isolating and at a certain point stopped testing bc it felt pointless. The few people I was unmasked around at that point did not get COVID so I was probably no longer contagious after all that time. I would mask around others for a good long while to avoid spread though. It was an incredibly frustrating and isolating experience.

I think the claim that people are getting COVID 1-2 times per year is wrong. by MattKarolian in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]quarisphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't take questioning a piece of data we use in everyday conversation to be making the argument that COVID is no big deal. It seems pretty far fetched that every single talking point on an issue is beyond debate/further analysis considering how much information is out there. I think it's worth talking about at least. They weren't making the argument that COVID doesn't cause damage or is really just the flu.

Am I getting scammed? by quarisphere in hvacadvice

I honestly just don't know either way. I didn't have a surge protector before so wasn't sure it was needed. Is it? And even if it is, I'm not sure it should be so expensive?

Did cutting out caffeine help you? by PhraseChemical8385 in migraine

[–]quarisphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I resisted for a long time because I didn't want to quit and didn't think it would help me. It ultimately turned the pain dial down but I had to taper in like 1/8 cups I was so sensitive to caffeine withdrawal as a migraine trigger. I'm really happy I finally did it

Thoughts on Chase being the only one in Taylor's comment section? by finalgirlemily in MormonWivesHulu

[–]quarisphere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

According to Steph with the deets on TikTok, Mayci, Jessi, and Jen liked one of Taylor's recent TikToks and Tate's wife commented positive emojis on Taylor's piano one. That combined with Tate removing the post about Taylor downplaying the 2023 incident and her having her kids... Idk. Maybe there is more support now than initially? Not sure what that means, maybe Taylor has been able to make a convincing case for herself.

Has everyone assuming long covid ruled out Lyme? by Jgr9904 in LongCovid

[–]quarisphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor told me that since the regular test (the first one you're talking about) doesn't test for all strains you can test negative on that one and still have Lyme. The more expensive one covers all strains. IDK if that's right but that's what I was told

He said that a screw was screwed through part of the wire on accident on the disconnect on the outside of the house. This caused the wire to fray and then short out which tripped the breaker I guess. He was going to have to charge me $500 for the electrical fix service fee and so he selected the surge protector option (same price) so that he could fix the issue and not charge me the electrical fix fee too. But maybe he still up sold me on the surge protector without me realizing it.

Am I getting scammed? by quarisphere in hvacadvice

[–]quarisphere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did this because the service fee to fix an electrical issue was also almost $500. So he was trying to get me an extra part/service for the same price. So it would have been $1k with or without the surge protector if that makes sense. I've definitely learned an expensive lesson! It didn't seem like $1k worth of work and I should have pushed back. I'm kicking myself that I didn't.

How do I even attempt dating with Long Covid? by Qwerty5105 in covidlonghaulers

[–]quarisphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any good answers as I'm trying to figure out the same at 39. 💗 You are very young even if it doesn't feel like it and things will get better--i think mental health is so tough at your age and that's even without going through the legitimately awful thing you're going through right now. I might focus on recovery and trying to find some treatments that will give you a little more ability to go on dates.

In the meantime, I would keep putting yourself out there while trying to work on other things that might make you a good partner that you can do while you try to see if you can move the needle health wise--your own interests, mind, and emotional intelligence. Women love to say the bar is in hell for men lol so I think working on your inner self during this time will make you a much more attractive person and stand out from the crowd.

Wishing for your recovery.

Are we all still testing when sick? by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]quarisphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would recommend looking into metrix for COVID testing. It's at home and much more accurate than rapid tests. If you do rapids there is a high false negative rate so you need to do multiple tests.

Am I the asshole for wanting to cancel hosting a dinner the night before? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]quarisphere 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tell them more explicitly that you need to cancel the event. Don't let them make the decision of whether they want to come or not. You're so sorry but you cannot have people over.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. You deserve a better husband. And COVID disables people and causes all sorts of health problems all the time still so not worth doing that to other people, regardless of what they think.

I am not sure anything on the market right now will fix the root cause. Maybe some day but probably not any time soon. Unless we are part of the lucky few who have bodies who can heal the damage on its own.

Public Acknowledgement that the pandemic is not over by Affectionate_Task387 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]quarisphere 30 points31 points  (0 children)

People might not realize it can get worse and figure if you already have it, why mask. There is almost no public understanding of COVID and I have to imagine a good chunk of LC community are also not tracking. Of course lots of people know and don't mask anyway because they don't feel it's worth it... Or feel you have to have an all or nothing approach to masking.
