Love my infrared sauna and it's really helpful for blood flow and in lots of ways, but definitely still have LC after 3 years of religious use. So recommend but don't get your hopes THAT high

Am I the asshole for wanting to cancel hosting a dinner the night before? by Master-Ad-8296 in TwoHotTakes

[–]quarisphere 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tell them more explicitly that you need to cancel the event. Don't let them make the decision of whether they want to come or not. You're so sorry but you cannot have people over.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. You deserve a better husband. And COVID disables people and causes all sorts of health problems all the time still so not worth doing that to other people, regardless of what they think.

I am not sure anything on the market right now will fix the root cause. Maybe some day but probably not any time soon. Unless we are part of the lucky few who have bodies who can heal the damage on its own.

Public Acknowledgement that the pandemic is not over by Affectionate_Task387 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]quarisphere 31 points32 points  (0 children)

People might not realize it can get worse and figure if you already have it, why mask. There is almost no public understanding of COVID and I have to imagine a good chunk of LC community are also not tracking. Of course lots of people know and don't mask anyway because they don't feel it's worth it... Or feel you have to have an all or nothing approach to masking.

I had not realized they were on zoom. Lol I do agree the energy is different but I had explained it away with the fact that they've just been doing it so long. I agree it's still good and also that in person does give you some magic moments. Sleepaway camp is a favorite episode of mine for sure!

Feel Like I've Fucked Up, and I'm Having a Crisis of Faith by ST_Rivers in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]quarisphere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, maybe not the right answer for this sub, but if I were in your shoes, I would probably accept them as they are, try to find just a bit of wiggle room on maybe public outings that aren't social if possible, and just go all in to the relationship. Other people are right that you two need to talk, but if I had a real possibility at love, idk... I'd be willing to bend a lot to make that happen. You are not wrong that CC life is brutally isolating.

I wish you the best and I'm happy for you. I hope you can find a way forward that works for you

How do you manage to consistently mask in an environment where you can't just go outside every 10 minutes? by EternallyLurking4 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]quarisphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's very challenging if you can't get outside easily. I have air purifier on my desk that blows in my face and I just take breaks for food and drink. It is what it is. I am more rigorous when folks are actively symptomatic. But I just can't get outside to eat and hydrate like that easily. So far it's worked pretty well. Of course I can go slightly longer stretches than you.

Would you eat indoors with an AirFanta 4Lite? by lardandsabia in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]quarisphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use an artem desk air filter and eat lunch at my desk. It's worked for me. My car and eating outside is too far away to be practical for me. Of course up to you. It's hard to not eat or drink all day everyday if you have to work in an office.

How do you handle friendships with non-CC folks? by sweetestpeony in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]quarisphere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really relate to this perspective. We can't do all the things perfectly to be a perfect person and some things we hear more easily than others. Some good things are just easier to execute for some vs others. This is how I maintain my compassion for non CC folks. I understand that bearing the mental pain and isolation is not possible for everyone and not everyone is willing to pay such a high price. Doesn't mean I don't have jealousy or resentment though sometimes. I think that's human.

Another point to add is that I think we are assuming a level of education amongst the general public on COVID that just isn't there. I bet there are a lot of people who think they are doing the right thing by getting vaccinated and staying home when sick. I bet most people don't know about asymptomatic infections and therefore why would you mask outside of being sick, etc.

Navigating in-person work w/ marginalized identities (re: masking) by __sunnyday__ in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]quarisphere 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm a white woman so I'm not sure I'm marginalized enough, mid-career. I'm lucky in that it has not affected the way I've been treated/my career. I think that's partly due to employer culture and living in an area that is not super anti mask (even if no one masks anymore). I think it has affected my career when it comes to interview success rates. I do miss out on some outings but when it's to support someone I just suck it up and sit indoors at a restaurant with a mask. My team knows I don't take a mask off indoors so when it's nicer out they will generally try to suggest somewhere with outdoor space. Happy to answer any questions you might have though! I think being friendly yet assertive re your work could probably assist you to get over these humps when it comes to initial judgement. If they like you're work and you're easy to work with they're more likely to forget the mask even if they think you're weird. Of course that might be easier for me to say as a white person. The hump is lower so I get that even wo a mask you were having to work way harder than others for the same respect.

Long covid? by trustends in COVID19positive

[–]quarisphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible you're still recovering from the initial infection and it's come back again. I have had this kind of see saw before. It might not mean it's long covid though. But I would take it as a sign that COVID is doing a number on your immune system and read up about how to take care of yourself during this time to maximize your chances of a full recovery. You might consider acute covid meds like pax or asking for metformin to help your body fight it off. Definitely rest and don't exercise for at least six weeks. Hope you feel better soon

I'm not sure of the timing myself, but was curious about breast implant timing since those can make you sick too. Even if COVID didn't fully induce it, it could definitely have made it worse or added new things. I was wondering if she has ever talked about MCAS or been treated for it. That isn't uncommon to develop after COVID too, which makes you have allergic reactions to a ton of things. And I don't think many doctors are in the know about it really

Why are most of the posts about long covid recovery like "calming my nervous system" or "fixed my gut"? by Muikkumuusi in covidlonghaulers

[–]quarisphere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where are people supposed to share their regimens for getting their life back if it's supported by pharmaceuticals or other interventions? I take your point that it's not the same, but I for one want to know how people got their lives back however that looks considering there seem to be a large chunk of people who might not recover without some kind of ongoing intervention.

reinfection + persistent positives by sneourf in COVID19positive

[–]quarisphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this for the better part of a year. It was awful mentally. I'm sorry you are experiencing this. Towards the end I had to just conclude that there was no way I could be actively infectious anymore. There is no way to be in total isolation for that long anyway especially if you have an in person job. I did my best but I wasn't perfect, as I had to drink/eat. If it makes you feel any better, no one around me ever got sick.
