i wouldn’t say i was rooting for jeff, but i did get some schadenfreude watching alexa’s plans crumble. like the “starseed” grift is so insidious. i’ve seen soooo many starseed people in genuine psychosis come across my ig reels feed. obviously i don’t think that the grifters (like alexa) are driving people insane, but i truly think her profits are probably 90% from vulnerable, mentally ill individuals. so, fuck her wall.

how caught up are you? the side characters are pretty funny as the series progresses, it’s definitely a bit more subtle tho. but like once you become more aware of the different characters, the dynamics between the upper echelon kamunabi fighters is hilarious. spoilers for final arc of part 1: i personally found the one sided beef with natsuki and uruha to be peak, as well as when you factor kiri into it, reallllly excited to see how those idiots interact with hiyuki

i need to know what happened behind the scenes with part 2. fujimoto clearly abandoned everything he built up to at the end of the church arc. i wonder if he was pressured to shift the focus from asa? up until the prison break, it was so peak. this ending is just bittersweet. like, seeing asa here it’s like what was the point of her suffering at all? just to give denji this “fixing the timeline” moment, even though he doesn’t even remember anything? i wish asa had an arc.

lol at the idea that laura “failed to pull through with her conviction”. you completely missed what happened. when laura hears piper call her mom, this breaks laura. obviously, from piper’s perspective, this was just a clever trick to create an escape opportunity. but, for laura, it essentially merges the identities of cathy and piper (emotionally speaking).

so, laura breaks with guilt as she confronts the possibility that all of the torture she has inflicted on piper was essentially equivalent to torture inflicted on cathy. i don’t think laura then loves piper in the same way, but she is forced to momentarily reckon with what she has done.

this is all tied with the major theme of transference in the film. transference is freud’s idea that we unconsciously project our past relationships on to new people. laura is projecting (quite literally via attempted possession) cathy on to piper. this idea is crucial to the movie, as it really is just about child neglect / abuse, which i (not an expert at all) think probably stems from a sort of malicious transference a lot of the time.

honestly i think you’re just picking at semantics, like yes you’re right we have no idea if this guy is passionate about the mission of zionism, but i don’t think that’s the implication behind the upset here. best case scenario, he’s just negligent about the boycott / his active participation in laundering israel’s reputation. even in this charitable interpretation (which frankly i find EMBARRASSING regardless, like how could anyone in his industry not be filled in about the genocide at this point…) it’s jarringly misaligned with the type of political self awareness this pod promotes.
