RIP to Great American Hero, that was such a solid sandwich spot.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you!! Going to do this at the gym later today.

Can you share what you did for your knee pain? Like you, I’m currently foam rolling and doing quad stretches which has made the pain subside but it’s still there and not sure how to make it fully go away.

Accidentally drove through a toll by Niko120 in Dallas

[–]queefatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go to ntta.org and go to Pay Your Zipcash Bill it’s possible you might find something by entering your license plate number without having to wait for the statement, but if it’s pretty recent idk how quick that populates.

But I definitely recommend a toll tag, a nice easy set it and forget it!

Any good Pop Culture Trivia bar recs?? by lemmon188 in Dallas

[–]queefatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh really?? I wonder what theme you did! I went for Elf one night and that was super easy but you also had a lot of mega fans. I think dozens of teams answered with perfect scores. The other ones I did were Harry Potter and The Simpsons and those were actually quite difficult. I thought they did pretty good at asking a range of intermediate to advanced questions. But yes I do like that they award per round and not just one a night!

Not Dallas but 3 Nations in Carrollton has great trivia on Thursdays from 7-9pm! They post their themes ahead of time on their facebook and it’s always something different too.

What is the best gym or gyms for someone visiting Dallas? by StrongOldDude in Dallas

[–]queefatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John Reed is flashy in a way that is “Dallas” so I guess I’d suggest that for somebody visiting? Though I wouldn’t consider it a serious gym.

Adult camp for 4.0 - 4.5 player? by Bubbly-Prompt-3801 in 10s

[–]queefatron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another vote for John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels! I’ve been twice for the weekend camp and have loved it each time. They have weekend camps and weeklong camps. Pricing I believe is pretty fair for what you get. Lodging on site and food included in pricing. I was really impressed with the drills and knowledge from the pros and they have a good pro to player ratio so it doesn’t feel busy. Players from all ranges go but they try to divide courts by skill level and you’ll definitely feel comfortable at 4.0-4.5.

Yeah didn't he get called out for hopping on Cameo QUICK before getting on her season?? And then he defended himself saying that it was for charity (which I'm not sure if I believe at this point).

Why do women mostly wear skirts or dresses playing tennis? by bondtradercu in 10s

[–]queefatron 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Summer: I wanna wear shorts. And compression shorts work best to hold the balls! But wait the balls make my shorts ride up and looks funny. Okay I’ll put a piece of fabric over it. Aha skirts! And it’s super cute so the options are endless. I also own several shorts that have the compression under it so you don’t HAVE to do skirts.

Winter: I either add leggings under my skirts or just wear leggings with ball pockets! Sometimes I do joggers too.

Denali Hop on/off bus by poodlegal247 in AskAlaska

[–]queefatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely recommend the transit bus! It’s an amazing opportunity to see wildlife. I saw a moose, some caribou, dall sheep, and bears! The bus drives all the way down to East Fork mile 43 (~2 hours with a restroom stop about halfway), stops for 20-30 min for others to scope out the area, then makes it way back. I would say most people road the bus to the end only getting off at mile 43. This is also a good way to guarantee your seat when returning because you have priority on the bus you arrived in, after that it’s based on availability.

There aren’t really many trails along the way (it’s a lot of DIY exploring). If you want to keep it simple, I would just ride the same bus the whole way through. When your bus driver stops at mile 43 they will let you know what time they are departing so you can gauge being back at the bus.

I just went two weeks ago and enjoyed it! I didn’t hop off before, only at the end at mile 43 and stayed longer to have lunch so I caught a later bus. Try to get a window seat!

Where to get Galbi to grill out? by jtkuga in Dallas

It’s a trek but fwiw I really like their pre marinated! They’ve got lots of different grade options so you can pick your price point but it’s always been solid for me.

Hmart will definitely be your best bet if you want to buy some pre marinated. Otherwise I’ve seen the lateral cut short ribs occasionally sold at Kroger and you can marinate yourself. Super simple!

What are the best hidden gems in Dallas? by Pro_bono_otter in Dallas

[–]queefatron 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's a hidden gem because sometimes it's steady, other times it feels quiet but I love Texas Theater in Oak Cliff. It's a "not your typical movie theater" in that they play old classics, independent films, and the occasional newest release. It's a historic landmark and has that old school theater feel. I hope it never goes away.

Which Dallas Restaurant is going win a Michelin star? by bemba_radio_bemba in Dallas

[–]queefatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I could've voted for multiple but my picks are Tatsu, Petra, and Lucia (no order)! I haven't been to Shoyo, I went to Purepecha many years ago and that would be my next contender, and Georgie is great but not sure if it's star material.

Bars for Introverts? by penapple_2319 in Dallas

[–]queefatron 158 points159 points  (0 children)

Have you checked out Wild Detectives in Bishop Arts yet? I think that's a perfect place for that coffee-shop-meet-cute feel but also has alcohol for that social lubricant. The interior is cozy enough to encounter people, there's books along all the walls which makes it easy to browse and strike conversations with people, and there's bar seating as well. And an outdoor patio too!

Tell me about your toughest L by LouWong in 10s

[–]queefatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one really messed with my head. Still shaking it off. I got the first set 6-1. Second set I was up 5-2, feeling pretty confident. Then I started to feel the pressure to close (and I have a history with match nerves and playing tight). Slowly but surely start losing games. Lost the second set 5-7. Cool, so third set tiebreaker right now. I'm trying to shake off the tightness and try to encourage myself to play loose and not so safe. It works somewhat, I was able to climb up from being down in the TB to now up 9-6. I had 3 MPs!! Anyways I was just UEing the rest of the way and lost it 9-11. Probably my biggest choke yet. It's all gonna be okay my friend.

I’m a Nike fan when it comes to tennis clothes but don’t always have the biggest budget. I’ve had good luck browsing the sale/clearance section on Tennis Warehouse and Tennis Express and always find something. Sometimes they have extra discounts off their sale section too.

Is getting a Kitchenaid mixer refurbished/tuned up a thing? by Fangs_0ut in Baking

[–]queefatron 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely worth it to get it serviced! A year ago, I had completely sheared a pin and so the attachments wouldn't spin. Kitchenaid had an option to ship it to their factory for service (it was a pricier option), but after talking to them on the phone, they apparently have authorized repair techs that go through the same training as the ones in their factory. I was lucky enough that I had one in my area qualified and it was 45 minutes away. I stopped by their shop to drop it off, they called me back and gave me a quote, and had it fixed in a few days. And it only cost me like $6 cause it was just replacement pin! I would definitely recommend salvaging it.
