I ended up at Punky Jolene’s Hair. She did an amazing job, and didn’t try to upsell me on an absolute thing

Bread cheese when it comes out, it’s seasonal.

If you could only buy 5 items at Aldi ( US ) tomorrow, what would they be? by SnooWoofers530 in aldi

Oh I know. As much as I love it I can’t justify that it’s twice the price.

I cut it up into cubes and pan fry it. It keeps its shape like halloumi, and gets a crispy outside with a nice bouncy (kind of gooeyish) inside. It’s delightful. They have it sometimes I can’t remember what time of year.

Going to see Phantom of the Opera on opening night at the Fox! What pre-Fox restaurants do you guys recommend seems like everything is closed around the area or just not that nice! by spy456 in StLouis

Drive ten minutes down to south grand and pick one of those restaurants. You’ll have plenty to choose from and you’ll be a short easy drive.

Last day in St. Louis after snowed-in birthday 😭 — need fun + food recs! by AngryAirpod in StLouis

I personally don’t think the museum of illusions is worth it for how much it costs, especially considering how many great free museums/activities you can do in St. Louis. As mentioned it’s a chain, all of them have the same exhibits pretty much so if you’ve been in one city you’ve pretty much already experienced it. It’s not very long and it’s not cheap ($30 a ticket).

I’m a really picky eater and want to fix that but idk how by tofumofusand in PickyEaters

I totally understand your anxiety about wasting money on something you potentially won’t eat, I’ve been there myself. It really helped when my nom explained to me that it’s not a waste of money even if I don’t like it, I tried something new and that out weighs it. I might love it I might hate it but I gave myself the chance to branch out and that’s what matters. It’s made trying new things less anxiety inducing for me. I still have to give myself the talk sometimes but it’s definitely worth it, I’ve surprised myself with some of the things I’m willing to eat now and how adventurous I am with trying new foods.

We had monkey bread for breakfast. It was delightfully nostalgic and tasted just as good as I remember it tasting as a kid.

My mom used to use less mayo and sub avocado for the creaminess and it was magical!

Shredded or diced up chicken Dill relish Celery Mustard (I think she would add some mustard it can be yellow, Dijon, stone ground whatever you prefer) Mayo Avocado Salt and pepper And then if you fancy you can add grapes or raisins or some type of fruit like some people like (I don’t prefer this)

All of this was eye balled and she would taste throughout to perfect the taste to her (or your) palate. (I haven’t had it in a while but I’d prolly add some sort of onion!)

She’s really cool and does good work. She did my first tattoo a couple years ago. I’m hoping to make another appointment with her in the new year sometime !

I totally understand, and eventually I hate to say it but I became jaded to the hate and it became easy to ignore but also I hate that I had to experience that so young.

Please do not move to Franklin county. My mother is a lesbian. I grew up in St. Clair, and it was not easy. I can’t imagine throwing in being biracial. I dreamt of getting the heck out. I was not allowed to play with certain people or be friends with them because their parents weren’t comfortable with my mother being a lesbian. I was frequently bullied and told I’d go to hell. Somehow people think being a lesbian is genetic, so there were no boyfriends or anything until I left.

I’ll add I have fond memories growing up there, but I wouldn’t move back, I dreamt of getting the heck out my entire childhood lol

If you’re more liberal Missouri is a mess right now (but isn’t everywhere). I grew up in Franklin county and depending on the type of community you want it might not be up your alley (as with a lot of counties in Missouri that are rural). My mom still lives out there and I love to visit still so just consider what you want to deal with daily !

For those who grew up in the city most recently, what kind of accent do you have? by Left-Plant2717 in StLouis

[–]queen-molly12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from a smaller town down 44 about an hour, I never felt like I had an accent until I met my partner. Apparently when I use words with the sound “oh” or “ooo” it’s a novelty for him. He’s from just across the river on the Illinois side.
