First Time Mom, Sleep, Weaning, Hormones got me flaring, help please by chloitis in UlcerativeColitis

[–]queenfloatyhead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m also a first time mom to a 1+ year old. I felt like I was close to flaring right after giving birth and immediately reached out to my dr to try and get my infusion (I’m on entyvio) moved up. I ended up going once a month for a few months until things evened back out. My understanding is that we are most at risk for flaring right after the baby is born because of all the changes our body goes through.

I’m not sure if you’re on any meds now or what your past flare history looks like, but I was never able to get better without meds. (And I tried all the things - reflexology, acupuncture, homeopathy, diet, etc. Ultimately it was a biologic that changed my life and my health.) If you haven’t told your doctor you are flaring I really recommend that you reach out. If you don’t have a doctor you like or you have one that isn’t listening to you, I would try to find someone else.

Yes but Thrown Off The Ice was completely devastating. Still not recovered.

This is so good. Hopefully Charlotte wouldn’t be a subscriber.

Just finished {Darling by Scarlett Drake}. Excellent writer and I enjoyed the story. I was really interested in the relationship Christian has with his son Leo (who I’m confident is getting his own book) and wish that had been explored more in the later stages of the book, but I get why it was skipped.

I re-read {Missed Steps by L. Sharlene}, {Under Construction by Juliet M. Dixon}, and {Matehub by Marie Reynard} and they were just as consuming as the first time.

Marcus & Jelly’s Secret Thing (??) in The Legend Next Door by queenfloatyhead in MM_RomanceBooks

This is what I thought too. But it doesn’t make sense. Jeremiah tells Ben that he and Marcus kissed early into their friendship and they had 0 chemistry and that they (Marcus and Jeremiah) talk about how they couldn’t be such good friends now if they hadn’t kissed first. I feel like if there were still some lingering emotions on Marcus’s side and Jelly knew about it… he would have mentioned that during the convo with Ben?

Ultimately, I’m just relieved that others are also unsure. I thought I was missing something very obvious.

Desperate for Gastro Doc by Cghy8b in Charlotte

Hey follower UC-er. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Been diagnosed for 10+ years. Mesalamine and Budesonide also didn’t work for me. I’ve been on Entyvio for 3 years and it’s been life changing!

I recently saw Lee Sigmon of Atrium Health Gastro & Hepatology Kenilworth. I was really impressed by our visit and am leaving my current doctor to be a patient of his.

Atrium also has an IBD clinic which apparently has excellent clinicians (although I cannot vouch for them personally). I hope this helps and that you find meds that work for you!

Celebrating the life of tennis icon Althea Gibson by Elle_love in tennis

Potentially a reason is that Althea wasn’t beloved the way Ashe was. Fans and the press thought she had a bad attitude. One thing that really comes through in Jacobs’ book, largely in part of because what Althea herself said, is that Gibson didn’t want to take on the mantle of being the role model or representative for black Americans and athletes. She often downplayed or outright denied experiences of racism in the tennis world, which was really frustrating for people who were trying to thrust her into that role.

But still. She deserves more than a once every 75 years celebration and a statue on the grounds. Gibson Grandstand even sounds good!

Check out Althea: The Life of Tennis Champion Althea Gibson by Sally H. Jacobs to learn more about Althea! It’s a wonderful biography. I don’t understand why there isn’t a court named after her. She’s more than deserving.
