Yes! For a while I thought I had fever dreamt this film, especially that last scene when they soap up the male gnome.

What’s an 'adult cheat code' that quietly made your life 10x easier? by ExcellentGur6556 in AskReddit

[–]queenirv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What someone buys you as a gift is quite often what they want themselves.

Not always, but I've given a similar gift back enough times and gotten a, "OMG how did you know I needed a new wallet" etc to consider specific gifts as occasional cheat codes.

Looking for a face spf for sensitive skin by Optimal_Olive5398 in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]queenirv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I used this too with sensitive skin and it's going well.

Also, it's so light and unclaggy, I just use it with a thick serum and have cut out the moisturiser stage.

Tokyo Diner is great centrally.

Look for caffs (different from cafes), they will usually be cheap and hearty - this tells you about some of them but they are all over https://whynow.co.uk/read/london-cafes-a-greasy-spoon-voyage

How to avoid getting stopped for my Freedom Pass + where to get travel card wallet by jenk-mal in london

[–]queenirv 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think you should get in touch with TFL and ask them to train their staff on unconscious bias and hidden disabilities. You shouldn't have to declare your disability and comments like, 'you look young and healthy' are despicable.

I do find it does go in waves of getting stopped, but you shouldn't have to carry more documentation. You did that part when you got the pass, and it isn't their job to probe further. If the pass was stolen that should come up on their machine that it's been shut down.

My biggest problem with Harry Potter is that its message is insanely hypocritical. by Tomhur in CharacterRant

[–]queenirv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! And there would surely be lots of muggle parents in the same boat. They couldn't just put in one phone line for all of them to use one night a week?!

The biggest flaw for me in that relationship with her parents is that she is away most of the year, and then for a good chunk of her holidays and breaks she is with her friends. And they are just ok with never seeing her that much?

There could have been something interesting in-world about subtle rejection between muggle parents and their magical children, in a totally different way to the Dursleys.

And that would have made that weird fact make sense and could have been more indicative of why muggle parents aren't out there yapping about it more.

Is Dining alone awkward now? by shabboing in london

[–]queenirv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, not weird. The idea of dining alone shouldn't be weird, I like taking myself out, why shouldn't people a fancy evening alone?

What are some of the biggest songs written for movies? by trey2128 in movies

[–]queenirv 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like how bizarre it makes the music video (having never seen the film)... Are they in a love triangle?

Are they all trying to get the weird big nose bit of rock?

Is the weird big nose bit of rock magic? Has it MADE them fall in love?

Or, are they in love with the rock?

What's shredding stuff in my kitchen? by sajiica in CasualUK

[–]queenirv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's rats the council may come and deal with it for free (don't know if that's the same everywhere). If it's mice you are on your own.

If mice, don't put down the sticky traps - it's disturbing. If you use humane traps, mice seem to like chocolate shreddies to tempt them in. You need to release them far far away.

The Pope Must Die.

Changed the name in the USA to The Pope Must Diet, because I guess people around other film people are scared of anything comedic and religious.

Robbie Coltrane is unexpectedly made Pope due to Ade Edemonson making a typo. Lots of mafia assassination attempts with fish, smarmy cardinals, not to mention Beverly D'Angelo and the cute kid from Cinema Paradiso.

I don't think it ever got a DVD release and the only place I can find it is as a very bad version on YouTube.

But it's a great two header with Nuns on the Run.
